job summary:
We are seeking a SR Electrical Substation Engineer to join our team
and take charge of substation projects. As the technical lead, you
will be responsible for the overall execution and quality of
substation design projects, covering distribution, subtransmission,
and transmission level voltage classes. This is an excellent
opportunity to showcase your expertise in substation design and
mentor a team of engineers while actively participating in project
management activities.
This is a Hybrid role. You must be able to go into one of the local
office 3 days out of the week.

responsibilities:
Function as the technical lead, overseeing the execution and
quality of substation projects, including physical design and
protective relaying/control aspects.
Provide technical guidance and supervision to a group of
engineering staff working on substation design projects.
Perform substation design, ensuring compliance with industry
standards and emphasizing continuous improvement.
Actively participate in management, project scheduling, and
work/resource planning meetings to ensure successful project
delivery.
Interface directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors,
fostering relationships and effective communication channels.
Mentor and train junior engineers, supporting their professional
growth and development.
Develop and maintain budgets and schedules for multiple substation
design projects, ensuring efficient project execution.
Perform substation design, including physical design and protective
relaying/control, while emphasizing continuous improvement.
Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, systems,
engineering codes, and company policies.
Assist in the development, maintenance, and updating of engineering
standards.
Offer technical guidance to project teams regarding substation
design projects and related disciplines.
Ensure compliance with company quality program by performing
internal Quality Assurance technical reviews.
Provide guidance and direction to ensure adherence to quality
standards.
Support continuous improvement and change management efforts to
enhance project outcomes.
Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or
multiple substation projects.
Conduct complex research to develop recommendations for equipment
and/or materials selection.
Oversee the collection, assimilation, and management of data for
engineering work.
Perform complex engineering calculations following standard methods
and principles.
Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements for
substation projects.
Apply advanced engineering techniques and analysis to solve
problems and review lower-level engineering work.
Serve as the responsible charge for a project, leading larger
production teams and coordinating multiple discipline
activities.
Actively coordinate with internal and external team members on
moderately complex projects.
Manage work assignments and ensure quality from direct reports and
project team(s).
Participate in management, project scheduling, and work/resource
planning meetings.
Interface directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors,
understanding and accommodating their interests and concerns.
Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members,
developing appropriate approaches for project execution.
Provide support to business development or pursuit activities as
required.
Assist with the performance management process, mentoring,
recognition, and corrective actions, when necessary.
Participate in career planning, learning, and development
initiatives.
Mentor and provide constructive feedback to junior engineers and
direct reports.
Implement resource management strategy to ensure efficient
utilization of engineering resources.
Manage engineering resources for small groups of a single
discipline.
Oversee administrative responsibilities, including office
administration, policies, procedures, and process
implementation.
Ensure adherence to corporate and division programs.
Approve timesheets and expense reports as required.
Qualifications:
Professional Engineering (PE) License in Texas.
Power/Power Systems experience
