(ODS), we build and deploy data science and predictive modeling
tools to support this complex operation. ODS currently seeks a
scientist to develop insights, machine learning models, and
solutions aimed at continually improving airline performance and

An appropriate candidate will have excellent technical knowledge of
simulation methodology (discrete event and agent-based paradigms),
reinforcement learning and core data science/data engineering
skillset. The candidate should have excellent organizational and
communication skills and feel comfortable in a fast-paced
environment. The role will support the delivery of decision support
applications based on simulation, optimization models and data
science.
Primary Functions:
Design, develop, implement, and calibrate decision support products
(simulation, RL and data science)
Build complex data sets from multiple data sources, both internally
and externally
Partner with Information Technology to optimize and enhance the
database environment for optimal efficiency and best practices
Provide technical leadership to Delta's business units
Leverage emerging technologies and identify efficient and
meaningful ways to disseminate data and analysis to satisfy the
business needs
Lead complex process improvement and project management engagements
for both individual business units and cross-divisional
initiatives
Interface with business unit leaders to develop and maintain
internal customer relationships
Practices safety-conscious environment resulting in employee safety
and well-being
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Master's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering,
Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or
equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working in supply chain analytics applications
Working knowledge in development of RL models using simulation as a
training platform
Working knowledge in model tuning/calibration
Proficiency in working with relational databases and query
authoring (SQL)
Proficiency in Python, C++ or other programming languages
Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization
skills
Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing
to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered
for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines,
Inc. What will give you a competitive edge (preferred
qualifications)
Working knowledge in multiple simulation paradigms and tools
(Anylogic preferred)
Working knowledge building optimization models and leveraging
optimization engines (Gurobi, CPLEX) preferred
Working knowledge of GIT, Linux/Unix and Bash/Shell scripting is
preferred
Working knowledge of statistical/machine learning tools (e.g., SAS,
R, TensorFlow) preferred
