We are currently guiding a large customer through a complex change initiative that involves redeveloping a legacy on-prem custom business application stack in the AWS cloud using 100% cloud-native technologies. Our responsibilities cover the entire range from strategic consulting; to solution, security, and technical architectures; to implementation support.Job SummaryThe Senior AWS Architect provides both leadership and subject matter expertise to development teams who are building cloud-native applications. The architect leads in the design, building, evaluation, and prototyping of the cloud-native components, providing proactive guidance and mentoring when needed.The ideal candidate must have 10 years of progressive business and application development success, including direct, hands-on experience in modern programming and scripting languages (enumerated below). This experience must enable the candidate to complete proofs-of-concept and architectural implementation patterns that resolve very complex system and data integration challenges with minimal oversight and assistance.To accomplish this, the candidate must have a thorough and demonstrable understanding of data domains, data structures, and data flows within the services provided specifically by AWS. The Senior AWS Architect must have a sound development background, but also be able to understand and effectively utilize ever-increasing, new AWS services as they are introduced to the platform. Thus, the candidate is expected to constantly perform research and continuing education to stay current on new AWS capabilities, and the candidate must be able to teach, guide, and mentor development teams in the appropriate, efficient, and effective use of these evolving technology tools.AWS services and tools that you will need hands-on experience with to use in day-to-day activities related to research and development include:* Lambda functions* Containerization (especially with ECS and Fargate) * CloudFormation Templates* AWS Developer Tools (such as CodeBuild, CodeCommit, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline)* CloudWatch and CloudTrail* Parameter Store* The full-range of AWS infrastructure components (including VPCs, Route53, APIGateway, Application Load Balancers, Security Groups)* Python, Java and JavaScriptResponsibilities and Duties:* Design and engineer AWS cloud-native application components* Develop solution prototypes to demonstrate suitability and interoperability of chosen components, and to establish patterns for adoption by development team members* In the context of solution prototypes, write high-quality, efficient code in Python and JavaScript without guidance * Provide ongoing guidance and coaching to development team members* Provide AWS cloud-native subject-matter expertise to developers* Conduct code reviews and feedback on implementation patterns* Capture implementation patterns into development standards and architecture best practices, as neededQualifications and Skills:* 10 years progressive IT and Business-facing experience* Technically competent architect with experience in developing proofs of concept, or complete research and design, that supports architecture and software engineering implementation patterns.* Proven, recent, experience (5+ years) in application design and engineering on Agile teams* Proven, recent, experience (2+ years) designing and engineering 100% cloud-native applications in AWSDesired Certifications* AWS Solution Architect and AWS DeveloperType and Location: * Full-time, W2 with competitive salary and benefits* Position can be remote with occasional travel to Columbia, SCPowered by JazzHR1zrAvp1vzD
