solutions positions. Responsibilities Primary Responsibility:
The Global Director of Safety and Health will provide global
leadership through development, supervision and execution of
regulatory health and safety management systems to ensure
compliance with requirements and continuous improvement of Health
and Safety performance throughout Global Enterprise. Sets strategic
direction for and reinforces the importance of Health and Safety
for Americold globally. Manages the overall Global Health and
Safety Programs, including development and implementation of goals,
strategies, policies and practices. Oversee and manage the day to
day activities of the global Regional Safety Managers and
Occupational Health Nurses. Works with the global regional
management teams (Regional Vice president, Directors, General
Managers, Operation Managers and Facility Service Managers) to
integrate Health and Safety performance and compliance into
facility operations. Develops opportunities to provide strategic
and competitive advantage through cross-functional interaction.
Provides leadership to drive continuous improvement globally in
Health and Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive
operational compliance.
Essential Functions:
--- Implement and ensure compliance with all policies and global,
national, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements with
current and future legal, regulatory and corporate initiatives.
--- Deliver an evolving Health and Safety strategy that is aligned
to the business needs and delivers continuous improvement
--- Implement, maintain and oversee Health and Safety programs,
including but not limited to external/internal auditing, regulatory
reporting, employee safety, occupational health, emergency
response.
--- Develop and support global Occupational Health programs in
maintaining employee occupational health, supporting their
wellbeing and managing effective return to work processes
--- Develops, maintains, and reviews global Health and Safety
programs to ensure compliance, manages regular strategic review of
Health and Safety in the organization and provides appropriate
objectives and programs to improve overall Health and Safety
performance.
--- Provides oversight, leadership and direction to global regional
safety management team as it relates to Safety and Health,
--- Participates in global Regional and District Management Review
Meetings to present Health and Safety performance statistics,
discuss upcoming Health and Safety actions to improve functional
performance, and proactively identifies and promptly addresses
Safety and Health issues which may affect operations or may provide
strategic advantage to the business.
--- Tracks metrics and drives Health and Safety improvement and
performance globally.
--- Champion initiatives that identify facility risk, prioritize
risk reduction measures, and drive closure of recommendations to
reduce the identified risks.
--- Ensures implementation of Health and Safety initiatives and
setting of Health and Safety corporate goals. Report the progress
of site and global compliance to VP Environment, Health and Safety
and senior leaders.
--- Represents the company on Health and Safety affairs with
relevant external parties ensuring adequate response to all
regulatory and legal issues.
--- Provides support to selected Corporate Health and Safety
initiatives with global application.
--- Oversee annual line item budgeting for self.
--- Mature the Behavioral Based Safety Program across Americold to
drive positive performance and creating a culture of safety within
Americold.
--- Build and manage a staff while creating an environment that
motivates people who can work in highly team-based, matrixed,
participative, results-oriented division/region.
Qualifications Qualifications & Experience:
Education, Training & Professional Experience:
--- Bachelor's Degree required preferably within Safety Management,
Engineering or related experience.
--- Master's Degree preferred.
--- 10-15 years of experience in Health and Safety or related
fields in a manufacturing environment.
--- Ability to guide, coach, direct, and develop direct reports,
and drive those practices throughout their organization.
--- Experience in controlling the activities and budget of one or
more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs
and/or operations.
--- Proven ability to work through other functions and personnel to
deliver on Health and Safety goals while supporting the business
locally and globally
--- Strong communication and presentation skills required, with
ability to influence and drive new ideas at the executive level
--- Self-starter with high degree of latitude is required
--- This role requires travel to our other global locations.
--- Strategic thinker
--- Expert knowledge of global, national, federal, state, and local
regulatory requirements.
--- Proven track record of managing H&S practices across
multiple locations including global locations.
--- Ability to identify compliance issues, assess the magnitude of
risk involved and expedite issues for resolution at the appropriate
level of management.
--- Demonstrated experience in OSHA and civil personal injury
litigation.
--- Demonstrated experience with implementing safety management
systems.
Knowledge & Employment Standards:
--- Experience with development, management safety systems across
numerous locations desired
--- Experience in Environmental, DOT and Process Safety Management
a plus
--- Strong organizational skills are mandatory with the ability to
deploy programs company wide
--- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
--- Excellent organizational skills.
--- Excellent influencing, project management, and consulting
skills.
--- Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels
of the organization
--- Solid decision making skills utilizing sound judgment
--- Strong overall computer skills required, (Microsoft Word,
Excel, Project are required)
--- Must be self-motivated with high degree of initiative
--- Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time

--- Requires the performance of work activities including
reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with
others; and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from
executive management
