Description Position open until April 27th 2026 Salary Range:
$54,900 - $56,000 annually General Description and Classification
Standards The purpose of the position is to plan, develop,
implement and direct highly visible and proactive community
involvement programs and activities in order to ensure community
awareness of the agency programs and to provide the community with
an opportunity for input. Coordinates key communication functions
for the assigned department. Duties and responsibilities include
but are not limited to working closely with the Community Affairs
Manager to develop and execute processes and projects in support of
the communications and marketing team; demonstrating superior
client service, interpersonal communications, friendly disposition,
and strong written and communication skills. This role helps to
effectively convey the department's mission and key strategies with
members of the community, partner organizations, and other key
organizations. Supervision Received Community Affairs Coordinator
works under the direct supervision of the Community Affairs
Manager. Must be able to work well both independently as well as
collaboratively with a team. Responsibilities Essential Duties and
Responsibilities These are typical responsibilities for this

Carries out the department vision for community engagement meetings
and experiential events through the planning and executing of the
day-to-day activities associated with each event/engagement
opportunity. Proactively identifies opportunities to build
relationships and establish dialogue with the community. In
conjunction with the Community Outreach Specialist, identify
community-based resources that could be used to facilitate
coordination of agency information by making use of television,
newspapers, radio, transportation services, libraries, faith-based
organizations, community service organizations, universities, etc.,
to run an extensive awareness campaign to inform the public of the
need for support as well as the current programs available
citizens. Supports Community Affairs manager in developing
relationships with local associations and business community in an
effort to build brand. Prepares monthly reports on stakeholder
engagement activities and experiential events. Identifies
opportunities to insert DPR in existing community events. Develops
and maintains a system for managing and responding to community
needs, issues, and priorities. Develops and maintains database of
vendors, community influencers, and organizations. Works
collaborative with community engagement team members to ensure
success of all department assignments. Works with procurement to
secure vendor services and ensures payment processes are routed
properly and timely. Coordinates with internal departments for
ensure successful event execution. Utilizes team budget tracker to
monitor and manage costs of events. Keeps Community Affairs Manager
abreast of any issues developing in the community. Tracks schedule
and manages notes and feedback from meetings. Takes direction from
Community Affairs Manager on social media postings as needed.
Assists with creation of presentations, marketing collateral, event
status reports, and whitepapers. Partners with City Departments in
identifying strategic opportunities and developing clear and
appropriate implementation plans to deliver results on all
initiatives in the priority areas. Acts as the point of contact for
both the Outreach team and community partners in cross-functional
activities and events. Ability to make decision within the scope of
the essential job duties; decisions related to financial, staffing
resources and political implications, requiring the approval of the
Community Affairs Manager. Routinely provides work group
leadership, guidance, and/or training to less experienced staff and
volunteers May perform other duties as assigned. The above

Skills and Abilities This is a partial listing of necessary

are identified. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Superior time management and organization skills; capable of

people at all levels of the organization. Ability to maintain
attention to detail and quality control of ideas, correspondence,
and department planning. Ability to perform multiple duties and

composure. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related
field. Two (2) years of experience in event coordination, public
relations, and marketing. Stakeholder engagement experience.
Preferred Education, Experience and Requirements Bachelor’s degree
in public relations, communications, marketing or related field; or
comparable experience. 4 years’ experience in social media
coordination, public relations and marketing. 2 years‘ experience
in public relations or work with a marketing agency. Work
Environment Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities
are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical
environmental conditions associated with job. Lifting Requirements
Light work : Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Work Schedule: This
position follows the City’s hybrid work schedule policy as assigned
by the Department of Human Resources Commissioner and requires
in-person work at City worksites/facilities at least four (4) days
per week, with the option to work remotely one (1) day per week,
based on eligibility, departmental needs, and supervisor approval.
The hybrid work schedule is subject to change at any time to five
