Position Overview:
Georgia State University's Instructional Innovation and Technology
(IIT) division is seeking a skilled professional to join our
vibrant and growing team as an IT Architect, who will serve as a
CyberInfrastructure (CI) Facilitator - AI and Data Science. Under
the general supervision of the Associate Director, Research
Solutions, this role will bridge the gap between advanced AI
frameworks and the unique needs of the Advanced Research Computing
Technology and Innovation Core's (ARCTIC) user communities,
fostering innovation by guiding researchers in implementing
scalable pipelines, machine learning workflows, and reproducible
analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
The scope of responsibilities for this position will include but is
not limited to the following essential duties:
Collaborative Research Engagement:
* Partner with faculty, researchers, and graduate students across
disciplines (e.g., natural sciences, engineering, social sciences,
humanities) to co-develop and optimize computational strategies
that advance scholarly research.
* Act as a bridge between domain experts and technical platforms to
ensure research questions are matched with the most effective
methodologies.
Applied Methodology Development:
* Advise on and implement advanced AI, machine learning (ML), and
data science techniques in research settings using both HPC and
cloud-native environment
* Guide research teams in experimental design, reproducible
workflows, and the integration of computational methods into their
research agendas.
Research-Centric Solution Design:
* Support the creation and adaptation of domain-specific AI and
data science pipelines, ensuring tools and workflows are tailored
to the specifications of different fields.
* Provide guidance on algorithm selection, data preprocessing
strategies, and model evaluation tailored to research goals.
Advanced Infrastructure Utilization:
* Collaborate with cyberinfrastructure and systems teams to
facilitate researchers' access to and effective use of
high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, on-premises and
cloud-based resources, container orchestration platforms, and
large-scale data processing frameworks
Training, Mentorship, and Capacity Building:
* Lead and support the development of researcher training
materials, hands-on workshops, and knowledge-transfer
initiatives
* Build capacity in the use of computational tools, data science
techniques, and responsible AI methodologies across the academic
community.
Research Community Engagement:
Contribute to the formation of interdisciplinary research
networks:
* Identify emerging computational needs.
* Document use cases.
* Promote best practices and facilitate knowledge-sharing among
interdisciplinary research groups and centers.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
* Partner with domain experts, IT staff, and external collaborators
to develop and implement innovative AI and data science
solutions.
* Attend relevant conferences and events to stay current with
trends and foster partnerships.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a
combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants who meet the Minimum
Qualifications AND possess the following:
* Master's degree and two years of experience in developing and
deploying AI/ML models, data science pipelines, or computational
workflows in research or applied setting.
* Ability to effectively connect domain-specific research needs
with appropriate technical solutions.
* Strong communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to
explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
* Demonstrated research skills and experience leading hands-on
workshops or instructional sessions.
* Experience managing infrastructure, software environments, and
hardware systems in HPC and hybrid environments.
* Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams
and adapting computational techniques to meet diverse needs.
* Proficiency with modern computational tools and frameworks, such
as Python, R, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Docker, Kubernetes, and workflow
management systems.
