What Do We Do At GSU?
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) at Georgia State University is a dynamic and diverse workplace supporting GSU's research community and rapidly growing portfolio of sponsored projects. Last year, GSU faculty brought in $224 million in research funding, topping over $100 million for the 9th consecutive year!
OSP seeks a highly skilled and motivated Senior Sponsored Program Officer to join our dynamic team. This hybrid position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of our research initiatives both before and after awards are granted.

What Will You Do At GSU?
As a Senior Sponsored Program Officer in OSP, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the research community. Your responsibilities will span across both pre-award and post-award phases, ensuring the seamless management of research projects. This position requires a versatile individual with a strong understanding of research administration, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and funding agencies. The work is challenging and engaging but can be rewarding, and you will work with stakeholders across GSU's campus and our many different sponsors locally, nationally, and internationally.
Some of the ways you will contribute to GSU's research community include:
* Proposal Submission Management:
o Collaborate with researchers to develop competitive grant proposals.
o Review and interpret funding agency guidelines and requirements.
o Review and submit grant applications, including all required documentation.
o Track proposal submissions and communicate outcomes to relevant stakeholders.

* Award Management and Fiscal Compliance:
o Assist with the administration of awarded grants and contracts.
o Ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions.
o Assist with closeout of awards.
o Monitor project budgets, expenditures, accounts receivable aging, and financial reporting.
o Assist in the preparation of financial reports for funding agencies.
o Collaborate with principal investigators and project teams to address any post-award issues or changes.
Supervising and Coaching Junior Staff:
o Monitor the work of distributed administrators as assigned by the Director - Post Award/Pre Award.
o Provide guidance and supervision to junior officers and evaluate their work.

Helping the GSU research community grow:
o Sharing your knowledge by participating in and leading professional training related to research administration.
o Develop your knowledge base by attending professional training.
o Mentoring less experienced colleagues in OSP and throughout GSU.
o Assisting in the development of OSP business processes and procedures.
o Cross-training with OSP colleagues to be able to assist with covering portfolios when colleagues are out of the office.
