Logistics at full potential.Reporting to the Global Director of SOX Compliance, the SOX Compliance Leader for North America will oversee the complete design, implementation, documentation, assessment, and continuous improvement of our internal controls, in support of all finance operations across all in-scope SOX business units in North America. This role will interact regularly with all finance leadership to evolve GXO's internal controls structure. This role must be able to rapidly establish credibility and trust with all levels of the GXO organization and comfortable interacting with and influencing the business unit leaders and leadership team. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Manage the internal control/SOX efforts, preparing all information essential to the understanding and assessment of internal controls, including risk and control matrix and narrative descriptions and/or flowcharts of processes
  • Identify and communicate to the Finance team observations and recommendations for the enhancement of processes and internal controls
  • Assist the teams with the design and implementation of processes and internal controls
  • Work with leadership to consider the need for the design and implementation of new controls in response to new accounting standards, policies, or system implementations
  • Assist in the training and development of GXO's personnel to support compliance with established processes and controls
  • Manage the compliance efforts of the North American entities, ensuring timely control execution, and preparing all information essential to the understanding and assessment of compliance
  • Provide support to process owners and control owners in the deficiency evaluation and remediation process
  • Support the SOX team on special projects as requiredWhat you need to succeed at GXO:At a minimum, you'll need:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
    • 5 years of experience in Compliance, External, or Internal Audit
    • Considerable knowledge and a proven track record in applying internal controls and accounting principles and practices, specifically as it relates to SOX risk assessment, process documentation and flowcharting, control design assessment, test plan design, testing of operational effectiveness, and documenting of deficiencies
    • Strong knowledge of internal control framework, along with SOX best practices and emerging trends
    • Knowledge of and skill in applying internal auditing and accounting principles and practices, specifically audit methodologies, risk assessment, sampling techniques, audit documentation, and report writing
    • Travel Requirement: 10% or lessIt'd be great if you also have:
    • 7+ years of experience in Compliance, External or Internal Audit
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to develop strong partnerships with stakeholders and collaborate with colleagues
