Job Description Product Development Coordinator - Kennesaw,
GAThis is a full-time, exempt position.Nature & Scope:Product
Development Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the
development and front-end set up of new formulations, raw
materials, and samples. Scope includes development of prototypes,
yield and manufacturability analysis of currently produced
encapsulated supplement products, raw material evaluation and set
up, and finished good set up (specification and internal document
creation).Major Accountabilities:The responsibilities of the
position include, but are not limited to the following:Compliance
with all safety procedures and SOP's related to each job
taskPreparation and proper documentation of samples and
analysisParticipate in formulation and development of new products
by testing flow, compressibility, particle size, etc. Provide
feedback to improve formulation when tests are outside established
limits.Evaluate products during encapsulation to troubleshoot
problems as neededCreation and maintenance of technical documents,
reports, and databases related to new prototyped products and/or
yield improvement effortsRecord and sometimes interpret results to
present to senior colleaguesUse computers and perform mathematical
calculations for the preparation of graphsProvide secondary support
to Product Development in product improvement, prototyping, and
customer support functionsRemain current with relevant technical
developments, especially those which can save time and improve
reliabilityReview existing and new recipes/specifications for
accuracy, feasibility, and ease of manufactureLead re-formulation
and re-development efforts for for existing products that present
unexpected manufacturability problems or require formulation-based
improvements and/or correctionsCreate and manage the implementation
of internal specifications for both raw materials and finished
goods based upon product quotes, company capabilities, and customer
expectationsServe as primary contact for initial internal product
document set up (product master folder, recipe, product
specification, result report templates, Certificates of Analysis,
etc.)Set up new product and sample recipes in ERP system for
productionEducation Minimum - Bachelors Degree in Food
Science/Tech, Chemistry/Biochemistry, or related field(s)Experience
Minimum - Professional exposure to product development cycle
including internal product set upPreferred - 2+ years' experience
in supplement, pharmaceutical, food science, or other product
development focused field.
Experience concentrated on formulation, prototype and sample
development, and new product set up and launches.Specific skills
Strong analytical skills including the ability to quickly learn new
tasks/processes and identify areas for improvementSuperior
multi-tasking, and time management skillsHigh level written and
verbal communication capabilitiesAbility to lift up to
50lb, multiple times per weekVery strong computer skills, including
all Microsoft Office programs (spreadsheet management,
presentations, document and form/template development, etc.), data
tracking / manipulation / presentation, back-end ERP system
familiarityStrong leadership and inter-/intra-departmental
communication skillsCapable of managing and maintaining an
independent laboratory workspaceAdvanced problem solving and
reasoning skills; both mathematics and physics-based problem
solvingSpecific characteristicsAbility to adapt to changing
requirements and tasksWillingness to identify areas of need and
address them autonomously with minimal input from managementVery
quick learner who is eager to take on new and challenging
