Job DescriptionABOUT THE JOBWe're looking for multiple 2nd Shift Routers to join our growing team! Previous bakery experience is NOT necessary. The router (or route puller) is responsible for getting our daily orders from the end of the production line to the beginning of the distribution line. He or she receives a sheet of all the items that need to go out and where they need to go. They pull the product from the freezer and from the line, ensuring it is good product, put it on trays and get it ready to ship out. Some walking in and out of a walk-in freezer is required. This position begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 2 a.m. or later (until the job is done).Pay: $18.50 an hour ($17 + $1.50 of night differential pay)Workdays: Sunday-FridayKEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Responsible for reading, understanding and maintaining daily inventory
  • Responsible for reporting to the supervisor about any missing product that is not scheduled to be produced by 8 p.m.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the bread looks right. Size and coloration issues must be reported to the shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager immediately.
  • Responsible for making sure all bags and any package materials are in good shape -- no holes, rips or tears.
  • Must ensure that empty trays are removed from the freezer
  • Responsible for monitoring ice buildup in freezer and either removing it or notifying supervisor about the need to remove it
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues
  • Participate in cross departmental training in all four production departmentsKEY QUALIFICATIONS
    • Must have dependable transportation
    • Must care about doing a good job
    • High School Diploma / G.E.D.
    • Ability to understand basic math skills (i.e., addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.).
    • Ability to maintain attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to be flexible and maintain confidence when changes arise
    • Ability to work successfully with a team
    • Ability to learn and apply company standards including, but not limited to, lock-out/tag-out, safety practices, GMPs, FIFO, employee handbook, etc.
    • Ability to understand and communicate instructions in English
    • Understanding of basic heat-related illness prevention
    • Must be able to maintain a quick and steady and work independently with little supervision
    • Must be able to keep a positive attitude and high level of motivation in order to satisfy deadlines for delivery to our customers.
    • Able to read, write and understand instructions, warnings, labels and postings in English effectively.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
      • Must be able to stoop and bend while lifting weight up to 50 lbs.
      • Must be able to tolerate temperatures above 90 degrees for periods of more than 1 hour during summer months and freezer temperature up to -10 (10 below zero)
      • Must be able to navigate being exposed to hazards in the workplace such as close proximity to equipment conducting heat and moving parts.
      • Must able able to work continuously in a freezer environment
      • Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. These include: constant walking, standing on hard concrete surfaces, frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, occasional lifting and ladder-climbing, frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
        • 2+ years' experience in a bakery environment
