ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS AND DOCUMENTATION

Perform administrative fi.mctions, such as, completing flow sheets, dietary fonms, I and Os, etc. Make written and oral reports or recommendations as required, concerning activities on your shift. Inform nurse of all accidents/incidents involving the resident. Follow established procedures. Inform nurse of staffing needs when assigned personnel fails to report to work. Develop work assignments and assist in completing such tasks. Call immediate supervisor as soon as possible to report your own absences. NURSING CARE

Meet with other nursing personnel on a regular scheduled basis to assist in identifying and conecting problem areas, and/or improvement of services. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other personnel within the facility to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents. Assme that department personnel, residents and visitors follow department established policies and procedures at all times . Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment. Make rmmds at the beginning of your shift and before leaving at the end of your shift in addition to regular rounds during the shift. Provide leadership to persom1el working with you during their training period. Make periodic checks to evaluate the residents physical and mental status. Participate in the orientation of new resident/families to the facility. Meet with the residents and family members as necessary. Report any problems to the nurse. Work with P. T. To carry our restorative and rehabilitative programs, to nclude self-help land care. Check foods brought into the facility by the residents family/visitors to assure that it is within the residents dietary allowance. Report problem areas to the nurse . Use restraints as necessary and in accordance with the facilities policies and procedures. Implement any changes given to you by a nurse in regard to resident care. Take and record TPRs, blood pressures and weights as necessary. Report any problems to the nurse . Monitor seriously ill residents as necessary. Participate in the development, planning, and conducting of in service training classes that provide instructions on how to do the job. This ensures a well-educated nursing assistant staff. Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as to maintain yom ce1iification on a Clment basis. Ensure that linen caiis are covered according to state regulations. Disinfect whirlpools after use. Fill water pitchers daily. Give oral care daily, remove and soak dentures at night. Give baths as scheduled. Complete all other Certified Nursing Assistant responsibilities as outlined in Certified Nursing Assistant Training . Monitor nursing procedures to ensure that nursing services supplies are used in an efficient manner to avoid waste. Maintain the confidentiality of all residents and all resident care information. Assure that all residents aie treated fairly, ai1d with kindness, dignity, a1id respect . Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy and that nursing service personnel knock before entering the residents room. Listen to complaints and grievances made by the resident and malce a written or oral report to the charge nurse. Participate in the Resident Care Plan Meeting, monitor care plan approaches and goals. Discuss any needed changes with the charge nurse. SAFETY AND SANITATION

Participate in the infection control program for monitoring communicable diseases and infectious disease among residents and personnel. Ensure that you follow established infection control procedures when isolated precautions become necessary. Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of reporiing hazardous conditions or equipment. Follow established hand washing procedures in the administering of nursing care. Recommend to the nurse any equipment or supplies needed in your area. Follow established safety regulations inuse of equipment and supplies. Ensure that your assigned work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. Ensure that the resident rooms on your hall are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. Follow departmental policies and procedure s, including dress code. Participate in all fire safety and disaster drills in a safe and professional manner.
