The Director of Compensation & Benefits is responsible for allaspects of FirstKey Homes’ compensation and benefits programs,including the strategy, design, implementation, and administration.The successful candidate will ensure a total rewards approach thatdrives employee performance and enables us to attract and retaintop talent. S/he will provide deep expertise andleadership in compensation and benefits strategy andsolutions. They will manage the company’s base-salarystructure, facilitate the annual goal setting, performance review,and merit processes, and oversee the annual benefits renewal andenrollment processes.

Responsibilities Provide thought leadership to develop andmaintain a comprehensive compensation and benefits strategy thatsupports human capital initiatives in attracting and retaining toptier talent while maintaining fiscal discipline.

Develop and maintain effective communication strategies to driveemployee awareness and understanding of all compensation andbenefits programs.

Maintain and continuously improve companywide compensationprograms in line with FirstKey Homes business needs, culture, andvalues including compensation philosophy, using benchmarkinganalysis, salary surveys, salary and incentive structures, paybudgets and equity analysis. Evaluate compensation practicesregularly across the organization and address gaps to ensureFirstKey Homes remains competitive.

Prepare executive compensation materials for board meetings toinclude industry benchmarking, salary recommendations and long-termincentive plans.

Plan and facilitate the goal setting and annual performancereview processes to determine merit, bonus, and long-termincentives. Communicate strategy, timeline, training, and resourcesto Human Resource Business Partners and departmental leaders.

Oversee the selection and administration of all benefitsprogramming, ensuring compliance, and cost competitiveness.Evaluate current benefits and review costs during rate renewals;provide recommendations; identify, select and manage vendors;design, plan and lead the roll-out of annual benefits openenrollment.

Proactively manage and create strong partnerships with benefitsproviders, including rate renewal negotiations, claims handling,market surveys, open enrollment communication and meetings.

Monitor changes to legislation and ensures all programsare administered in compliance with local and national laws. Thisincludes oversight of all compliance filings, reports, and auditsrelated to the administration of employee compensation and benefitsprograms either directly or through vendors/partners.

Oversee the 401(k) Fiduciary Committee.

Collaborate with business leaders to create, refine, enforcepolicies and procedures regarding compensation and benefits plans.Ensure they adhere to FirstKey Homes, local, state, and federalstandards.

Identify key performance metrics to measure the success ofcompensation and benefits programming. Evaluate programming,recommend, and implement solutions to enhance operationaleffectiveness.

Develop and maintain a system for documenting all compensationand benefits processes and procedures that need to be completedwithin the Human Resource Information System.

Train, develop, and manage a direct report to achievedepartmental and FirstKey Homes goals. Provide coaching andmentoring to enhance performance and capabilities.

Stay abreast of emerging compensation and benefits practices andtrends. Evaluate and implement practices that would enhance HumanResource programming and FirstKey Homes employee valueproposition.

Working Conditions

Primarily working indoors, office environment

May sit for several hours at a time

Prolonged exposure to computer screens

Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, andcopiers

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business,Finance or equivalent work experience and/or education

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in the role of a humanresource, with a focus on compensation and benefits

S ignificant compensation and benefits technical expertise; aswell as tax, regulatory and legislation impacting programsknowledge

Minimum 3 years of progressive leadership experience leading ateam to achieve organizational goals

Demonstrated knowledge of human resource policy and law (e.g,SHRM guidelines, DOL and EEOC regulations, and employeegrievance/relations)

Proven ability to interface, consult and present to SeniorBusiness Leaders and C-Suite Executives

Proven ability to conceptualize and lead strategic humanresource initiatives

Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,PowerPoint, Outlook)

Preferred Experience

Master’s in Business Administration preferred

Experience with HR systems integrations

Experience with self-insured benefits programs

Executive Compensation/Compensation Committee experience

CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) and/or CEBS (CertifiedEmployee Benefits Specialist) certification a strong plus.

Experience working with contemporary HR Technology platforms(i.e. Ultimate Software)

Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth company and/orprivate equity environment

Human Resources — Knowledge of principles and proceduresfor compensation, benefits, and negotiation. Knowledgeable ofcompensation and benefits analysis, trends, and best practices aswell as practical approaches and solutions.
