    Purpose of Your Job Position

    As a Consulate employee, you are entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out your daily tasks and assigned duties while demonstrating Consulates Core Values of Compassion, Honesty, Integrity, Respect and Passion. The Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for acting as the Team Lead for all day-to-day payroll processes.

    Job Functions

    As Sr. Payroll Specialist, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. The primary role is to provide overall payroll support to clients. This job description does not list all the duties of the job. You may be asked by your supervisor to perform other duties.     Duties and Responsibilities

    + Understand and perform all phases of the payroll process


    + Perform audit of payroll registers.


    + Research and investigate payroll discrepancies.


    + Process off-cycle and manual payroll checks, as needed.


    + Research exceptions and employee payroll issues.


    + Ensures that all internal policies and procedures are being adhered to in regards to payroll processes wage increases, commission/bonus calculations and other types of compensation issues.


    + Assist all facilities and/or employees with pay check questions.


    + Must maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.


    + Audit and maintain the Paid Time Off benefits to ensure that accruals are accurate.


    + Continuously evaluate, analyze and streamline payroll processes.


    + Understand and perform all phases of the payroll process


    + Perform audit of payroll registers.


    + Research and investigate payroll discrepancies.


    + Process off-cycle and manual payroll checks, as needed.


    + Assist with garnishment administration and other special payroll deductions.


    + Research exceptions and employee payroll issues.


    + Ensures that all internal policies and procedures are being adhered to in regards to payroll processes wage increases, commission/bonus calculations and other types of compensation issues.


    + Adheres to the strict confidentiality of payroll records, pay rate information and other wage related employee issues.


    + Stays abreast and aware of new laws and regulations regarding payroll and/or tax related issues.


    + Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.


    + Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill with other team members.


    + Possess the ability to embrace Consulates core values of Compassion, Honesty, Integrity, Respect and Passion and incorporate them into ones daily job function.


    + Perform all other business-related duties, as assigned.


    + Assist in multistate Tax Filing for Quarterly and Annual including reconciliations and submission of payments.


    + Supports supervisor/manager in audits, process documentation, and process improvement


    + Responsible for tracking WOTC program, training, sending weekly reminders, and monthly statistics as well as working with vendor.

    Working Conditions

    + Works in office areas.


    + Moves intermittently during working hours.


    + Is subject to frequent interruptions.


    + Works beyond normal working hours, weekends and holidays and on other shifts/positions, as necessary.


    + Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).


    + Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.


    + Communicates with nursing personnel and other department personnel.


    + Works beyond normal working hours, weekends and holidays and on other shifts/positions as necessary.


    + Sitting for extended periods of time.


    + Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.


    + Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.


    + Physically able to participate in sessions, presentations, and meetings.


    + Some travel may be required for the purpose of meeting with vendors, suppliers, service providers, or off-site contractors.

    Education/Experience

    + Three to four years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience


    + Prior LAWSON or ADP experience preferred.


    + At least 4 years of prior payroll experience required.


    + Reporting experience preferred.

    Specific Requirements

    + Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; and excellent human resource management skills.


    + Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.


    + Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment (must include Word, Excel and skills in performance management and record keeping).

    + Excellent organizational skills.


    + Must possess the ability to work independently.


    + Must possess exceptional team building and people skills.


    + Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and time-manage effectively for self and others.


    + Must possess the ability to deal with a wide range of personality types, ages, and diverse cultural backgrounds.


    + Above average oral and written communication skills.


    + Must possess the ability to articulate and comprehend the English language.


    + Requires intense concentration and attention.
