Job Overview:
Performs various tasks to maintain a tidy, clean, sanitary
environment throughout the Community common areas and in the
Residents' apartment suites. Performs Community and resident
laundry tasks in compliance with Community policies and procedures,
and state and local rules and laws.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Sweeps, damp mop and wet mop hard surface floors per Community
schedule and as needed. May occasionally be required to spray and
buff hard surface floors.
- Vacuums carpeted areas per Community schedule and as
needed.
- Reports damaged flooring or carpet in need of cleaning or
repair to supervisor.
- Cleans and sanitizes common area bathrooms daily
- Provides housekeeping services to each Resident's apartment
weekly, or as otherwise instructed, including:
- Floors washed and Carpet vacuumed
- Dusting of exterior surfaces, windowsills, and ceiling fans (if
applicable) Fragile items are not dusted.
- Cleans glass surfaces (mirrors, table tops etc.), appliances
interiors and exteriors and exteriors when applicable.
- Cleans and sanitizes kitchenette and bathroom(s) fixtures
- Empties waste baskets and replaces liners
- Reports any needed apartment maintenance to supervisor
- Empties trash cans/waste baskets and replaces with clean liners
throughout Community common areas and offices. Cleans trash cans as
needed.
- Inspects equipment prior to use for safe operation
- Follows established safety standards, manufacturer's
instructions and manufacturer's recommendations when performing
tasks
- Reports any maintenance and repair issues identified throughout
assigned shift to supervisor for referral to maintenance.
- Maintains adequate stock of supplies to complete work
responsibilities timely.
- Maintains adequate supplies in common area bathrooms such as;
Hand soap, Paper towels, Toilet tissue
- Maintains adequate supplies of hand soap and toilet tissue in
Residents' apartments
- Follows seasonal and periodic cleaning schedules as set by
supervisor.
- Follows proper infection control and standard precautions when
performing tasks.
- Recognizes and honors Resident Rights
- While performing tasks, should any unusual Resident behavior or
habit be noted, immediately report Supervisor or Executive
Director
- Maintains control of cleaning supplies during performance of
duties. Secures in locked, designated areas when not in use.
- Performs laundry according to schedule established by
supervisor
- Picks up soiled laundry for both the Community and the
Residents from specified areas and washes, dries, folds, or puts on
hangers, delivers, and puts away clean laundry in proper
locations.
- Does not co-mingle Residents' laundry in the same load. Washes
and dries each resident's laundry individually.
- Sorts laundry by colors, lights, and dark clothing so colors do
not run and damage the lighter clothing.
- Washes and dries all bed and bath linens in accordance with
sanitary recommendations
- Always clears lint and properly disposes from dryers after each
use and prior to next use
- Hand washables and dry clean only items must be sent out by the
Resident/family for laundry/dry cleaning care.
- At the end of each shift cleans and properly secures and stores
equipment and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of training
and ability. Informs supervisor if he/she is unable to perform any
assigned duty so assistance can be obtained. Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Education:
- At least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED preferred - Experience:
- Hotel or healthcare related housekeeping and laundry
experience
- Understanding of infection control - Background checks, drug
screens, and driving records:
- Must be cleared upon hire and ongoing from all background check
requirements to work in an assisted living community in compliance
with all state and local rules and regulations and within company
requirements.
- Must be clear from drug or alcohol use upon hire and/or upon
random or scheduled request by the company.
- Must be cleared by physical examination (GA) Skills:
- Maintains safety protocols with use of dryers, washers and all
equipment.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, chemical safety
including proper use of personal protective equipment, resident
safety and participate in ongoing training requirements.
- Strength and physical ability to perform duties safely.
- Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced
environment
