Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced
ICU RN for a Level 1 Trauma, academic teaching hospital with a
high-acuity medical ICU patient population and day shift
availability. Details - Medical ICU unit in a 637-bed Level 1
Trauma, academic teaching hospital designated as both a Chest Pain
Center and Stroke Center - 14-bed MICU unit caring for patients
with respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA,
hemodynamic instability, stroke, ARDS, overdoses, and patients on
chronic ventilators and trachs - Patient ratio of 1:1-2
(occasionally 1:3) - 12-hour day shifts, 7A-7P, on a 6-week
scheduling cycle - Weekend rotation of 5-6 shifts per 6-week
schedule - No on-call requirements - Floating required to all adult
ICU units and PCU - EMR: Epic (experience required) Requirements -
Active GA or Compact RN license required - Current BLS, ACLS, and
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required - CCRN preferred
but not required - Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required,
with most recent experience within the last year - Proficiency with
trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin drips,
heparin drips, and vasoactive medication management - Experience
monitoring and managing invasive lines including arterial lines,
CVLs, and intracranial pressure monitoring - Experience managing
ventilator-dependent patients - Last 4 digits of SSN and full date
of birth required for consideration - At least 1 professional
reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager,
Director, or Charge RN required for consideration Additional
Information - Responsibilities include managing hemodynamically
unstable patients, titrating vasoactive drips, assisting with
bedside procedures such as chest tube placement, tracheostomy, and
PEG tube placement - Equipment used includes TABLO (renal
replacement therapy), Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing,
Philips monitors, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and PCA pain management -
CNAs on unit assist with vitals, glucose checks, ADLs, ambulation,
turning, and patient transport - Unit secretary on-site 7A-11P;
house-wide call secretary available 11P-7A - Support staff includes
a charge nurse, PICC team, resource nurses, respiratory therapy
(24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist (24/7) - Orientation
consists of 1 day of facility orientation with educational modules
followed by 2 days of departmental orientation - Holiday coverage
required — candidates are expected to work one shift of each major
holiday (Thanksgiving or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or
1/1) - RTO requests require manager approval - First-time travelers
are welcome to apply - Candidates who have previously worked a
permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for
at least 1 year to be eligible - Local candidates are accepted — no
radius rule applies and the same rate is available regardless of
