interpretation skills Care coordination with interdisciplinary team
Discharge planning knowledge and patient education Description:
Looking for an experienced RN to join our team in the MedSurg/Tele
unit. The unit has a bed capacity of 16 and maintains an average
census of 16 patients. Patients commonly present with conditions
such as chest pain, syncope, abdominal pain, cellulitis, COPD
exacerbation, heart failure observation, dehydration, hypertension,
and diabetes. The RN will manage a patient ratio of 1:4-6. Duties
include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts,
administering insulin drips, and heparin drips. The RN will
collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for patient care and
education. Support staff includes CNAs for assistance with vital
signs, glucose checks, bathing, feeding, and more. Charge nurses
may have patient assignments, while resource nurses facilitate
discharge and other needs on the unit. There is access to
respiratory therapy and hospitalist services 24/7. The equipment
utilized includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps,
and telemetry monitors. The unit offers a busy, team-oriented
environment with high patient turnover. Weekend rotation
requirements involve working 5-6 shifts out of 12 on a 6-week
