Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 01/26/2026 Duration: 14 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: RN - Med Surg Job Details: • 2 years of nursing experience required; first-time travelers accepted • Patient population includes adults to geriatrics • Patient ratio of 1:6 across all shifts • Every other weekend schedule required • Floating within facility required • No call requirements • Required certifications: BLS, NIH • Navy blue scrubs required • Maximum 7 days requested time off allowed • Holiday work required based on assignment length - if 1-2 major holidays fall during assignment, work all; if 3 major holidays fall during assignment, work 2 • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Years Eve/New Years Day • Work with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR systems • Care for patients with diagnoses including appendicitis, cholecystitis, small bowel obstruction, pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, sepsis, HTN, and hypo/hyperglycemia • Assist with procedures including prostatectomy, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, ostomy creation/reversal, exploratory laparoscopy, and bowel resections • Work with equipment including NGT, chest tubes, feeding tubes, and wound vacs • Skills required: chest tube management, colostomy care, feeding tube care, isolation precautions, peripheral line care, and wound care/wound vac management • 12 hours of orientation provided • Full compliance required to start on time with 2-week pushback if not compliant • Clinical screening required for final approval Facility: This healthcare facility operates a 34-bed medical-surgical unit with an average daily census of 27 patients.
