ResponsibilitiesUnder the general supervision of the Supervisors, Manager or Director; the Med Tech performs clinical laboratory testing pursuant to established and approved protocolsm requiring the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, maintains equipment and records, performs quality assurance activities related to test performance and may supervise and teach within the laboratory setting.

• Accuracy: Maintains acceptable accuracy in-patient, quality assurance, proficiency, and competency testing.
• Critical Thinking: Uses clinical/ theoretical knowledge to analyze, investigate, interpret, and report lab data.
• Job Knowledge: Maintains current personal training, education and practice of policies and procedures.
• Productivity: Practices organizational skills for efficiency of time, materials, cost, and availability of lab data
• Communication: Practices information monitoring, investigation, resolution, and hand-off to team members.
• Performs other duties as assignedQualificationsRequired Minimum Education:Must have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science except for HEW.Required Minimum Certification:MLS (MT) or equivalent from an accrediting agency approved by Georgia Department of Community Health. (ASCP, HEW, AMT). Persons who possess the technologist qualifications and have recently moved into the state or have recently completed the academic and training/experience requirements may be temporarily classified once as technologists for eighteen (18) months to afford the persons an opportunity to successfully complete an approved qualifying examination. MLS (MT) certification eligible candidates must pass certification within 18 months of hire. Active employees with a MT(AAB) or MT (AMT) working as an MT in WellStar as of 9/1/20 will be grandfathered into this position.Required Minimum Experience:One-year Laboratory experience preferred.Required Minimum Skills:Computer/data entry experience. Ability to communicate with various members of the healthcare team. Ability to use EXCEL, Word and have basic computer operational knowledge. Epic and 3M
