Job Description:

Based in Reno, NV, this position will be a key member of the Company’s executive team and oversee all plant and mining operations, environmental health and safety, engineering, supply chain and quality. This position will play a key role in the Company’s growth, formulating the overall operations strategy, leading culture and safety and implementing best practices across the operation’s team. This role will also play a pivotal role in acquisitions both domestic and international. This position will work very closely with our Sales and Marketing, R&D, Finance teams to ensure the execution of projects and improvements to our processes are completed on time and on budget. Responsibilities: Vision and Strategy Development – Develop clear vision for Operations, drive toward vision with unwavering passion, implement strategic activities in conjunction with unit managers and ensure they are carried out effectively and with efficiency. Cultural Development – Coach and development the plants in line with the behaviors of the EP Way. Significantly improve employee engagement and empowerment. Remove silos in and between plants and mines, develop, manage and coach plant managers on individual plant culture plans. Organizational Development – working with Human Resources, develops plans to ensure proper succession plans and professional development are in place thus creating health for the organization as a whole. Budgeting and Finance – lead efforts throughout Operations for the monthly COGS reviews and annual budgets, ensure we meet or exceed agreed AOP goals, actively drive cost control across the team. Capital – review, manage, justify capital projects to plan, lead review of projects with rigor to make sure spend delivers at, or above plan. Ensure seamless collaboration between Engineering team and individual Plants/Mines. S&OP – Continue development and expansion of S&OP process to maximize benefit of forecasting and plant scheduling. Maximize plant capacity with proactive master scheduling, constantly balancing plant and mine constraints while minimizing lead times. Provide constant feedback to Customer Service and Sales so they can respond appropriately customer and demand issues. Supply Chain/Logistics – Drive aggressive cost control across the business, ensure we maximize realized product price with rigorous logistics process/spend/analysis. Operational Excellence—define, develop and lead performance improvement focused on capacity increases and/or cost reduction. Build teams and capabilities to successfully execute and sustain improvements. Drive operations best practice across plant and mine teams. This effort includes the continued development of RCM /SPC / OEE across the business to maximize throughput, minimize downtime and support quality production. Mining – Ensure we manage all mining properties with appropriate mine and reclamation plans. Proactively plan and manage spend to minimize ore cost in future years while delivering ore quality in line with customer needs. Aggressively manage ore moisture to maximize plant capacity. Performance Management – Promote a culture of performance. Effectively utilizes KPIs, performance reviews, financial statements and operational reports to track performance. Establishes effective action planning for the fostering of a continuous improvement culture. Coordination – works collaboratively with Chiefs of function for other areas (Ops Services, Human Resources, Finance, R&D, Sales and Marketing) concerning the strategic importance to the Company. Acquisitions – working closely with VP of Strategy and Corporate Development, identify potential acquisition targets and coordinate all operations-related due diligence activities. Accomplishments after 90 days to include: Gain familiarity with all operations functions, their interrelationships and respective processes Gain familiarity with counterparts in the commercial, R&D, HR and finance and build an understanding of their needs and how Operations may work with them to serve our customers and grow the business Initial vision and strategy development for Operations Team Identify key human resource issues, develop plans for resolution Develop initial thoughts on group organizational structure Accomplishments after 180 days to include: Five year plans for all operational groups, development of clear vision for team, including key capital projects to meet risks and future growth needs Implement identified organizational changes Ensure maximum plant capacity to meet market demand Develop an intimate knowledge of Company’ business Visit customers and understand their market needs Develop intimate knowledge of EP processes and operational costs Expedite capital projects, manage spend to agreed budgets This position will oversee various individuals within Operations including Plant Management, Mining, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Continuous Improvement Qualifications: BS degree in engineering (chemical, mechanical) or related discipline required. Advanced degree (MBA or engineering) highly preferred Minimum 10 years’ experience in a closely related function with at least five years at the executive level within the mining, manufacturing, or processing industry Excellent analytical skills with the ability to develop, present and interpret complex operations and business plans Strong interpersonal communication skills that will facilitate productive communication with local and global staff, executive leadership and Board of Directors Previous experience in high growth organizations with a focus on results Superior execution track record and strategic skills Past experience leading/driving Operational Excellence program (such as 6 Sigma, Lean, TPM, etc.) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to acquire knowledge of various operations groups Excellent coaching and capability development skills Board room presence Identification and implementation of appropriate strategies to maximize the use of global IT resources and corporate Centers of Excellence (COE's), and focusing resources on corporate priorities/goals/objectives while meeting the needs of the verticals within the business unit. Identification of emerging trends in IT, to determine how these can be applied in a business context for business advantage. Maximize the return on investment for all systems spending. Managing, prioritizing and optimizing the IT assets/resources across the organization to drive maximum business benefit. Developing and maintaining an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the information needs of the business units. Identifying, recruiting developing and retaining a high performance team of professionals Managing Service Level Agreements with user organizations, as well as offshore partners, to provide cost effective solutions. Developing and implementing corporate-wide IT policies and procedures. Developing annual operating and capital budgets for the region's information and technology systems' needs, in line with the International and Global IT strategies and budgetary guidelines. Ensuring conformance to all legal, regulatory and compliance directives. The ability to develop and implement a systems strategy that supports the business goals, while maintaining hands-on involvement in the operations, is a necessity. The following experience is required: At least 12 years of progressive business experience and 10+ years direct involvement with managing global IT functions. Responsibility for global budgets and demonstrating measurable ROI on investments, and progressively improving TCO. Managing large teams and budgets in a complex matrix organization and geographically dispersed. Offshore and vendor management experience. Selection, construction, deployment and operation of complex systems as part of a large portfolio of applications. Experience with mainframe, midrange, Cloud, ecommerce and mobile solutions highly desirable.
