SUMMARY:The General Manager oversees the radio station in providing
access to the arts, cultural and education programming, and a forum
for the discourse of public affairs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implements the Reg Lenna Center for the Arts (RLCA) mission and
oversees the overall operation and performance of the station and
staff.
- Oversees all FCC compliance and reporting, program
conceptualization, acquisition, and scheduling.
- Collaborates with the ED and Development Director to define
short and long-term goals, policies, and procedures; monitors all
activity to identify necessary changes.
- Directs all strategic planning and fundraising including
corporate underwriting, grant writing, event planning and donor
solicitation in coordination with Development.
- Researches and writes grant requests and collaborates on
marketing material with the marketing staff and outside
contractors.
- Organizes the annual direct mail campaign and acts as the
liaison for donors and underwriters.
- Hosts daily and weekly radio productions.
- Monitors community radio trends in programming, fundraising and
compliance.
- Provides outreach by teaching and/or coordinating teaching
artists for Government & Economics: Digital Journalism and Sound
Design Classes class to high school students.
- Coordinates with ED on Media Arts Studio programming.
- Collaborates with the RLCA/WRFA Ad-Hoc Committee as part of the
strategic plan.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:None identified.EDUCATION
AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a
related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in multi-media broadcasting,
communications and/or marketing.
- Knowledge of FCC and other federal, state, and local
broadcasting regulations.
- Demonstrated ability training, coaching, and motivating
staff.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have a passion for the Arts.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of
constituencies.
- Knowledge of on-air and remote broadcasting processes, public
radio principles, procedures, operations, and standards.
- Knowledge of fiscal management principles.
- Ability to define short and long-term goals.
- Ability to operate radio station equipment.
- Knowledge of current radio trends.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Flexibility
required based on station needs.SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES:Director of Public Affairs, Program Coordinator,
Arts & Entertainment Asst, interns and volunteers.EQUIPMENT USED TO
PERFORM THE JOB:
- Standard office equipment.
- Radio station equipment.PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Must be able to self-ambulate.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting and concentration.
- Must be able to verbally communicate thoughts and ideas.
- Requires listening to audible voices with ability to verbally
