Job Summary
The Directorof Sales will manage and coordinate the sales activities of the insuranceorganization by generating the desired profitability and sales volume. The Directorwill evaluate and adjust strategies to respond to changing market conditionsand competition. This role will ensure a high performance, results-drivensales environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Overseefield sales activities to include strategies, research, market analysis,comparative rater mastery, annual planning, and budgeting.
- Overseeand manage department performance and sales strategies.
- Coordinatewith appropriate parties for field-sales support items including vendornegotiations, state and industry conferences and trade shows.
- Leadinternal and external field-sales presentations.
- Hire,develop and manage the workflow and performance of all sales professionalsunder your direct supervision.
- Manageinternal field-sales training and development function while supportingcompany values and HR practices.
- Developand maintain incentive plans and training programs for external partners to supportgrowth initiatives.
- Developand maintain interdepartmental relationships that support company objectives.
- EnsureSales Team provides necessary quotes and competitive intelligence from fieldto Product Management area.
- Partnerwith the IT Department to maintain/upgrade sales systems.
- Mustdemonstrate knowledge of agency regulations including, but not limited to,licensing requirements, agency appointment, and termination and licensingprocesses.
- Specialprojects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements Formal Education & Certification
Bachelor's degree in Sales, Risk Managementand/or Insurance or business that yields knowledge of indirect sales (throughthird parties) and numerical concepts necessary to understand commissionstructures, insurance pricing, etc.MBA preferred.
Knowledge& Experience
Ten years of sales related experience,preferably in multiple markets and/or distribution channels.Should include experience in entire salescycle, development of sales teams, and P&L responsibility.
P&C (personal lines or small commercial)experience preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrative easewith both verbal and written formats.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to managemultiple levels of activity without compromise to results.
- Must be able to gather and analyze informationskillfully
- Must possess analytical ability at a level to interactwith associates, managers, agents and vendors.
- Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and theability to present critical information in a way that is easily understood atall levels and across all channels ranging from internal executive managementand entry-level associates; and from small-business agents to nationalaccounts.
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities andeffectively work both independently and in a group.
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) preferred andability to interact comfortably with individuals of all origins.
