Role Description:

The Director of Future Packaging will build and lead a new team under the Packaging Research & Engineering group as part of Technical Innovation and Supply Chain, Research to Experimentation organization. Packaging Research & Engineering serves as a center of material and engineering expertise within The Coca-Cola System to drive packaging innovation enabled by end-to-end capabilities from concept to commercialization. The Director will be accountable for building a pipeline of solutions that can drive new growth and sustainability opportunities. The relevant solutions would comprise new packaging concepts/formats/business models, where packaging is defined broadly as a material engineering solution to beverage accessibility needs for our consumers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the research agenda to shape the industry towards beverage accessibility solutions that are meaningful to the Coca-Cola System.
  • Lead strategic global platforms to drive the development of "new to the industry / new to TCCS" packaging concepts, formats, business models in partnership with Global Packaging Network, External Technology Acquisition & Experimentation, Future Flow, Supply Chain, and Brand & Categories Marketing.
  • Own the "go/no-go" recommendations with cross-functional team and communicate the business case to the stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and commercialization by the GDI and Operating Unit partners.
  • Manage the portfolio of projects and recommend resource prioritization based on value.
  • Build and lead through influence a networked team of direct reports and shared resources with other teams.
  • Manage a team of direct reports through performance enablement and career development.
  • Influence the capability roadmap for Packaging Research & Engineering based on emerging material, design, and engineering technology needs.
  • Maintain outside-in perspectives and breakthrough innovation process expertise through external engagement and leverage out to the Global Packaging Network.
    Qualifications & Requirements:

    Required
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, or related field
    • 7+ years of professional experience in innovation and creative work
    • Experience in leading multi-functional collaborationPreferred
      • Diverse experience across multiple technology and/or business domains
      • Experience working with digital solutions, especially in the context of connected equipment
      • Experience leading and growing a new team (through influence and/or direct supervision)
      • Experience commercializing a new technology
