What You'll Do The role of the Automation Commissioning Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize the commissioning of new build or retrofit automation projects according to scheduled deadlines and within budget while meeting or exceeding projected business objectives. They will work with project management, IT, engineering, maintenance, operations and vendors to drive quality control throughout the project life cycle ensuring successful launches and turnovers for automated machinery of inbound, picking and outbound operations in cold storage facilities. They provide oversight, guidance and augmentation of PLC controls, Warehouse Execution and Warehouse Management System software (WCS/WES and WMS) teams to deliver automated solutions and software processes that maximize procedural efficiencies, analytics/metrics reporting, inventory control methodology, continuous improvement, and labor management. He / she will support Americold's development teams pre- and post- go-live to ensure training, acceptance, ownership, spare parts management and preventive maintenance occurs for all automated and software systems. Essential Functions: Develops and executes project work plans and transition plans, in cooperation with the PMO team, system architects, and other engineers coordinating the efforts of team members in order to deliver greenfield and brownfield projects according to plan
Function as Subject Matter Expert with the design teams tasked to develop software, layout processes, select suppliers, and map functional flows on management aspects of operational processes across PLC/WCS/WES/WMSs
Lead/support all testing and deployment of complex PLC/WES/WCS/WMS systems working with analysts, project managers, super-users and OEM vendors including but not limited to all simulations and scripts, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Operational Readiness Tests (ORTs) to ensure defect-free launches
Support facility launches and go-live periods during ramp-up, overseeing process and facilitating training rollout to operations; handoff all best practices, training documents, tools, automation commissioning/testing and tested systems to maintain deliverables and SLA commitments.
Data analysis and data extracts using tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, Jaspersoft, etc. to provide gap analysis of process shortfalls and verifying dashboards and reporting tools during commissioning and start-up of projects

What Experience You Need
BS degree in ME, EE, IE, Computer Science or related discipline in Mechatronics/Automation
7+ years of experience in Engineering and/or Operations Management in an Automated environment
Experience managing large automation systems including PLC/WES/WCS/WMS conversions/launches
Proficient with data mining; SQL/database query/extraction, Cobra, Excel and Power BI
Must b e able to travel at an estimated 75-100% of the time to support projects
What Could Set You Apart
Advanced degree (MS Engineering, MBA, etc.) and certifications (LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.)
Advanced technical skills in engineering, project management, quality assurance, and costing highly desired
Experience with specific automation systems including JDA/BY WMS, RsLogix or Simatic WCS and WES applications (ie. Exacta, Momentum, DiQ, etc.)
Experience in a 3PL or cold storage environment a plus
