Job Description:
- As a sub-consultant to HNTB - the Project Management Consultant
(PMC) firm for GDOT's Alternative Delivery Program - you will
manage the accelerated preliminary engineering, Alternative
Delivery Team procurement, and design oversight for a variety of
projects. The Alternative Delivery Program is run by GDOT's Office
of Alternative Delivery (OAD), and this role requires frequent
coordination with several different entities:
- Client & Alternative Delivery Program/Project Owner - Georgia
Department of Transportation (GDOT)
- Coordination with other state and federal agencies, such as
FHWA, SRTA, DNR, USACE, etc., is likely and will require
participation by GDOT for any major decisions
- Project Management Consultant (PMC) - HNTB + subcontracted
firms, including SEI
- General Engineering Consultant (GEC) - varies by project
- Alternative Delivery Team - varies by project Key Areas of
Responsibility: The responsibilities of this position, as stated by
GDOT, include, but are not limited to:
- Acts as an extension of GDOT staff as a project manager on the
Alternative Delivery program management contracts
- Develops strong client relationships, both internal and
external to the project team, and enhances project performance
- Will mostly work directly with Prime Consultant but represents
SEI while at Clients (GDOT) office
- Works directly with GDOT Subject Matter Expert (SME) Offices to
set up concept team meetings, plan reviews, procurement meetings
and other meetings as required to progress the project
schedule
- Is responsible for working directly with GDOT hired consultants
to move GDOT projects through the Plan Development Process
(PDP)
- Will be responsible for keeping project schedules current and
ensure the projects stay with in scope and budget
- Ability to speak effectively before groups including GDOT,
Cities, Counties and other Consultants
- Manage consultant's designing transportation projects including
but not limited to roadway design, bridge design, transportation
planning, and environmental
- Responsible for preparation and facilitation of large
meetings.
- Manage the consultant's preparation of engineering reports,
plans and specifications for major and minor projects.
- Manage the consultant's preparing and review of preliminary and
final plans and technical specifications, contract documents and
estimates, and make recommendations for additions, deletions and
substitutions when modifications are necessary.
- Manage the Procurement Process for Alternative Delivery
projects.
- Supervise and observe the navigation of a design project
through the client's process including the coordination of the
project with City, State and County officials and other outside
agencies.
- Coordinate projects with clients, contractors, consultants and
firm staff.
- Communicate and interact with project team members, client
representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate for the
project.
- Resolve a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design
requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult
coordination requirements).
- Meet program and client's goals and reporting metrics for
projects.
- Knowledge of Georgia Department of Transportation systems,
policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of standard operations, policies and procedures of a
firm, preferably within the A/E industry.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computers,
calculators, and copiers.
- Skill in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and
Excel.
- Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time
management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal
relationships.
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks without
immediate and constant supervision Experience, Proficiencies,
Skills and Certifications:
- BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or
education
- Experience managing or designing civil engineering projects
