Job Description:
The Director Global Scientific Communications will support
Pfizer Oncology in leading and developing a scientific
communication strategy for publications and congresses, and will
work closely with the Global Medical Affairs Teams, Clinical Teams,
Medicine Team Leaders, and GSC Omnichannel/Digital dissemination
leads to strategically plan and execute a publication plan for
assigned oncology asset(s).
**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Lead/chair the Scientific Publication Committees (SPCs) for
assigned compound(s) to develop comprehensive global publication
plans that are inclusive of traditional publications such as
abstracts, congress presentations, manuscripts, peer-reviewed
podcasts, as well as other enhanced content (eg, infographics,
videos) which support comprehension and understanding of the key
data in publications. This role also works closely to develop
publication-related patient focused items such as plain language
summaries, potentially involving patients as authors, and works
with our patient engagement lead as appropriate.
+ The role is central in driving global communication strategies
with global medical affairs and clinical teams and ensure alignment
of regional/local strategies. Support medicine teams, regional
teams, and global medical affairs, and other Pfizer Oncology
stakeholders in engaging with the external medical community
+ Develop and maintain relationships with external authors through
engagement with ongoing publication activities. Candidate should be
skilled at working with publication embargoes, working with
journals and publishers, and other external interactions such as
publication steering committee meetings. Facilitate the development
of congress presentations with external authors prior to and onsite
at congresses (eg, slide reviews)
+ Lead internal communications around new and key scientific data
on medicines and disease areas of interest to cross-functional
stakeholders, including development of scientific communications
platforms
+ Support digital and patient-centric communications activities
including medical content for social platforms, digital data
dissemination platforms, plain language summaries, scientific
communication platforms, external landscape analyses, and global
newsletters
+ Understand detailed technical information and convey complex
scientific ideas to a variety of audience types and cultures
+ Collaborate with other GSC Directors of publications,
omnichannel, digital dissemination, and patient engagement to plan
and develop content for internal and external sites for a variety
of audiences. Contribute to strategic planning for global medical
congresses with cross-functional teams in support of Pfizer
Oncology's key data and scientific presence
+ Partner with Corporate Affairs, Commercial Development, and other
Pfizer Oncology stakeholders around medicine/disease scientific
communications
+ Lead and contribute to internal communications regarding pre- and
post-congress coverage reporting
+ Collaborate with Publications Management Team specialists to
manage publication vendors, budgets, and operational activities as
needed
**BASIC QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Advanced scientific/healthcare degree required (PharmD, PhD, MS,
etc.)
+ Minimum 6 years experience in the healthcare/pharmaceutical
sector with 3+ years experience in Medical Affairs/Scientific
Publications/Medical Communications
+ Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership
experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence
and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and
guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes
and create business impact.
+ Represent a function within a matrix organization through a
strong track record of excellent presentation, customer facing, and
interpersonal skills
+ Strong track record of written and oral communication skills to
develop and present scientific information to varied audiences and
articulate messages succinctly
+ Experience with scientific peer-reviewed publications, global
medical communications, and industry publication best practices
+ Strong organizational skills to track numerous tasks for multiple
simultaneous projects in a deadline-oriented environment
+ Direct external vendors and manage budgets, timelines, and
quality of deliverables
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Experience in oncology

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $156,900.00 to
$261,500.00. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with
a target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate
in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered
include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and
personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and
health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and
vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the
applicable plans. Salary range does not apply to the Tampa, FL
location.
Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs
and/or eligibility.
