Description
The Task Force for Global Health is an Emory University affiliate located in Decatur, GA. Its 17 programs focus on building durable public health systems that serve all people. Focus areas include neglected tropical diseases, vaccines, and health systems strengthening. The Task Force received the 2016 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize-the world's largest award of its kind-in recognition of its extraordinary contributions to alleviating human suffering.
JOB DESCRIPTION: -


  • In collaboration with The Task Force for Global Health (TFGH) Senior Leadership, this position develops and executes an annual strategy to measurably advance TFGH priorities with the World Health Organization, United Nations, U.S. Congress and select U.S. federal agencies.
  • Develops outreach and educational strategies to support the TFGH agenda and increase awareness of TFGH capabilities with those audiences.
  • Initiates and develops sustained relationships with WHO, federal agencies, Members of Congress, Congressional staff, key influencers and other advocates and industry partners to provide information on TFGH programs and issues.
  • Analyzes legislation and policy and provides strategic advice and counsel to the TFGH Leadership Team.
  • Seeks opportunities for TFGH experts to participate in global and national level issues including through oral and written testimony.
  • Responds to Congressional requests regarding TFGH programs, capabilities, and priorities.
  • Serves as the federal affairs link to counterparts across TFGH, Emory University, and other organizations.
  • Represents the TFGH with other advocacy groups with similar objectives (Global Health Council etc.).
  • Liaises with federal partners to better understand their needs and objectives on Capitol Hill.
  • Develops a regular system of policy analysis and legislative updates, including budgetary reports, to the TFGH Leadership Team and Program Directors on issues that impact strategic decisions and investment plans.
  • Organizes meetings, briefings, and educational visits.
  • Drafts policy papers, statements, and educational documents, in partnership with TFGH experts and an internal interest group on communications messaging and opportunities.
  • Serves as main liaison between TFGH and UN/WHO bodies, including coordinating, preparing and/or presenting testimony on behalf of TFGH, as a World Health Organization (WHO) non-State actor and special consultative status with the United Nations (UN), at various UN and WHO governing body meetings.
  • Coordinates TFGH non-State actor reporting with WHO.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A bachelor's degree and ten years of related experience; a master's degree in public health, political science or similar is preferred. -
    • Demonstrated record of collaborating with domestic and global public-private partnerships to advance policy and funding goals. -


      • Experience with federal legislative processes and politics, simultaneously managing complex and difficult projects or initiatives in a rapidly evolving environment.
      • Experience working on health policy at the Congressional level, and for a state and/or U.S. territory.

        NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. -Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. - Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
