Job Description:
The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in building
and growing an effective annual giving program at Spelman College.
The Assistant Director will administer and manage reunion giving,
volunteer engagement strategies, parent campaign and the parent
association and work closely with the Director of Annual Giving and
other staff to develop fundraising strategies, identify prospective
annual fund donors and integrate with college-wide and alumnae
initiatives.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree and least three to five years of related work
experience required, preferably in higher education fundraising and
annual giving programs including, data and reporting, personal
solicitations and managing volunteers. Proven experience in
building and strengthening relationships with donors and proven
fundraising success.
This position requires strong customer service focus, excellent
written, verbal and time management skills. Professional demeanor
with the ability to interface with internal and external customers
with diplomacy and tact is essential. Independent judgment is
necessary to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload
with attention to detail. Work requires fact-finding and
compilation skills plus ability to perform a variety of tasks
simultaneously, at times with little supervision.
Excellent oral communication skills are required when presenting
information and responding to questions from students, parents,
employees and the general public in one-on-one or group situations.
Incumbent must be able to write business correspondence and
procedure manuals and compose memos, letters, and e-mails. Good
proofreading skills are essential.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the
ability to perform advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite
(Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). In addition to producing
correspondence, duties may involve assignments that require
creating brochures, PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, computer
generated graphics, use of Lotus Notes, Banner Advancement Module
and Internet navigation.
