Protection Applications Business Line Manager - ATL T&D Atlanta , Georgia Description: The Atlanta T&D Protection Applications Business Line Manager will provide overall leadership, vision, and managerial direction for establishing Burns & McDonnell's position within the Atlanta regional Protection Application Market.This position will have primary accountability for all project management and business development within the Atlanta Protection Applications Market. This position will work closely with several other managers within the Atlanta regional offices and the overall Protection Application leadership team including:T&D Operations Managers - responsible for internal department personnel, operations, and coordination with section and department manager(s) throughout Atlanta T&DT&D Projects Manager - responsible for overall execution of T&D projects within the region.Protection Applications Business Line Lead - responsible for overall Protection Application national practice.Protection Applications Department Manager - accountable for staffing/career development of all design and engineering resources within Atlanta Protection Applications and direct supervision over Project Engineers in the department.Specific areas of responsibilities include:Business Development:Identification and pursuit of Protection Applications opportunities for the Atlanta Regional and associated Branch offices.Establishing Burns & McDonnell's position in the regional Protection Applications Market through strategic planning and business plan development with a focus on continued growth in market share, profitable growth, and great work environment.Providing overall oversight and direction for the business development of the Atlanta Protection Applications Markets. Work with the appropriate personnel on the development and administration of the Atlanta Protection Applications Business Plan.Oversee the development of strong, work-winning relationships with key Protection Applications stakeholders at current and prospective clients.Lead the development and diversification of the Atlanta Protection Applications Markets.Oversee the development of Atlanta Protection Applications work with new clients as well as the expansion of Atlanta Protection Applications work with existing clients.Provide oversight for the pursuit process including "go/no-go" decisions, win strategies, proposal staffing, development of pricing, contract terms and conditions, and risk-reviews.Personnel:Maintain a forecast of workload and required skillsets and support the Operations Managers and Protection Applications Department Manager on recruitment and development of staff needed to achieve that and grow Protection Applications.Conducting performance evaluation for selected direct reports and participating in evaluations of other staff as required.Recruitment and Development of center of excellence leads for individual Protection Applications Market segments.Coordinate with T&D Projects Manager to drive the training and development of project management, business development, and client management skillsets within the team.Recruitment and development of Protection Applications project-managers-in-training, project managers and project management section managers.Management and career development of Protection Applications project management personnel. Accountable for the development of leadership within the Protection Application project management group and for assisting with the overall leadership development within the office. In coordination with the Operations Managers, provide oversight and direction for Project Managers to invest appropriately in their project teams' personnel to maximize employee-owner career development, satisfaction, and retention.Facilitate a thriving work environment that facilitates the recruitment, development, and retainment of the market's top-talent.Project Management:Identify and oversee implementation of effective change management practices on projects. Proactively work through corrective actions where deficiencies are identified.Overall identification and implementation of project management methods, procedures, tools, and technology to win new work and to execute existing work more profitably.In coordination with Protection Applications Department Manager, provide support and direction for all Atlanta Protection Applications engineering projects including the project management, project planning, scheduling, resource management, budgeting, and the establishment/execution of critical project objectives. Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.Profitability and financial performance of the Atlanta Protection Applications projects portfolio. Responsible for overseeing the identification of Protection Applications project and portfolio risks including the administration of the associated mitigation strategies to provide for a portfolio of work that meets or exceeds set goals.Facilitate collaboration with branch and other regional offices to coordinate business plans and assist in the pursuit of Protection Applications opportunities.Support the Protection Applications Department Manager and any BMI liaisons, as applicable in the development and leveraging of a strong 'Burns and McDonnell India' team dedicated to the support of Atlanta Protection Applications Projects.Work with the Business Development and Account Management personnel for the development and administration of client and project capture plans.Coordinate with the Protection Applications team to support the development of EPC and Program Management opportunities within the Atlanta Protection Applications Market.Safety:Adherence and promotion of Burns & McDonnell's safety programs, training, and policies for all Substation projects as well as the promotion and management of the Safety & Health performance of the project team membersQualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program. A minimum of 7 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the transmission and distribution industry with a transmission engineering design and/or project management focus.Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.Demonstrated results in client and business development.Demonstrated results in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.Excellent planning and analytical skills.Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.EEO/Minorities/Females/Disabled/VeteransAt Burns & McDonnell, you'll be empowered to build not just projects, but your career.
