The -Senior Implementation Manager -manages the new business Specialty implementation process for assigned customers to deliver consistent customer satisfaction by collaborating with client teams, multiple business units and with customers to ensure project deliverables are consistent with client service agreements, appropriate service levels are achieved, project timelines and deliverables meet client requirements, issues are identified and resolved timely, and client satisfaction is achieved throughout the implementation process. -

Daily responsibilities include planning implementation processes, conducting research to improve implementation strategies, creating detailed project plans, and maintaining an open line of communication between relevant departments. -This position identifies and documents all project parameters required for implementation of pharmacy services and serves as the primary point for client teams, pharmacy operational teams and customers during the implementation phase. -Role acts as a subject matter expert in specialty for external and internal stakeholders and handles ad hoc, non-traditional implementations and strategic projects as business needs arise. -

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing Specialty implementation for new complex clients [health plans, coalitions, Third Party Administrators (TPAs), non-Optum Rx Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), physician groups, employer groups] and existing clients with benefit changes, including terminations
  • Assisting with new highly complex renewals for health plans, coalitions, TPAs, non-Optum Rx PBMs, physician groups, employer groups
  • Acting as outward-facing resource lead for assigned accounts, typically with direct client contact
  • Acting as a single point of contact for Specialty pharmacy clients during implementation phases and working alongside relationship/account managers -
  • Building client relationships by ensuring appropriate levels of service and operational support during the implementation process, including establishing clear rules of engagement and roles and responsibilities for implementation success
  • Representing client internally and coordinating with other functional areas to implement client systems, complete projects, and addressing ongoing service needs
  • Ensuring all pharmacy program parameters required for implementation are accurate, complete, and supportable before committing to services with client
  • Collaborating with marketing for specific collateral needs
  • Ensuring thorough documentation and communication upon completion of all implementation duties with special emphasis on custom (non-standard) components such as Performance Guarantees, reports, process documentation
  • Utilizing organizational skills to plan, prioritize and ensure timely deliverables, high levels of quality, and efficient use of resources to achieve operational readiness
  • Communicating internally with specialty operational team impact of change to confirm operational readiness
  • Tracking open items, managing risk point escalation, and bringing closure in a timely manner to ensure client expectations are reasonable and understood
  • Tracking post-go live activities to completion
  • Monitoring new patient transition to Optum integrated pharmacy approximately 30-45 days after Go-Live date
  • Working with other departments to develop operational solutions and recommendations -
  • Analyzing reports with account management to determine client trends, recommendations, and implementing programs appropriate for the client
  • Transitioning client to account management for ongoing service once implementation phase is complete
  • Maintaining client database/documents for new plan set-up and/or plan changes
  • Identifying areas of improvement post implementation with implementation process or gaps in service with Optum operational teams so the customer experience is optimized
  • Participating in Implementation improvement or strategic projects and may be responsible for project execution and training
  • Reviewing and writing Request for Proposal (RFP) responses to represent Specialty implementation processes, upsell opportunities, identify red flags and guide less senior team members in writing RFP responses
  • Assisting with finalist meetings either by attending or providing information and materials during finalist presentation, set appropriate expectations for delivery of service based on capabilities and expertise in transition process
  • Developing and implementing strategies and policies related to implementation and may develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to accommodate department and operational procedures
  • Ensuring department leadership is kept informed of project/implementation performance, critical issues, and achievement of major milestones
  • Leading cross-functional partnership to ensure that programs are implemented consistently with contractual commitments, on time and on budget

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of Pharmacy Benefit Management, Specialty pharmacy, or Pharmacy Account Management -
    • 2+ years Project Management experience (implementation)
    • 2+ years working in a client facing role and experience presenting to clients
    • Experience presenting to clients and/or senior leadership
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint
    • Ability to travel 25% or less of the time for training and/or travel to client site or OptumRx service centers to provide consultative services and recommendations

      • Preferred Qualifcations:
      • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in any major
      • Online reporting database experience
      • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Vision
      • Works well under pressure and is a highly motivated with the ability to self-direct and prioritize
      • Ability to multitask to resolution / completion -

          Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: -The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
