The Director of Organization Design and Development will assume a critical role in the design and execution of an enterprise-wide systems approach. This role will collaborate with People Business Partners and business leaders to identify and prioritize critical needs that enable UnitedHealthcare to lead transformation and meet its long-term growth objectives. - You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Director of Organization Design and Development will: -
  • Partner with the People Team community and the business to execute on large scale organization change in alignment with the UHC Vision
  • Partner with the People Business Partners and business leaders to execute on critical organization development interventions for individuals, teams and the organization in order to execute strategic business plans within lines of business and across the enterprise
  • Support the application of organization development diagnostic support and leverage insights from external macroeconomic and people data and trends that may impact future structures and workforce composition in partnership with People Team Planning and Organization Enablement
  • Provide leadership and project management for the Organization Design and Development Toolkit enabling our People Team community and business leaders to leverage a common approach to organization design and development
  • Continually seek out, maintain and share "best practices" across the enterprise
  • Apply knowledge of established People Team and Talent Development process and solutions to provide quality, consistency and alignment across the enterprise
  • Understand the company's short, medium and long-term strategy and how the People Team organization supports, participates and guides the future impact internally and externally
  • Lead in day-to-day execution of critical organization development deliverables and ensure the work is intentionally focused on achieving our vision
  • Support People Team and Business leaders in utilizing organization design and development skills to support the priorities identified to increase the effectiveness of the organization and the engagement of the workforce
  • Support the facilitation SLT/ELT new leader acceleration in order to ensure alignment with culture, organization/team engagement, foundation of trust and a positive leadership shadow
  • Deploy tools and processes to enable People Team and business leaders to diagnose organizational needs and determine a path forward
  • Support the establishment of forums to coach and mentor People Team in the development of Organization Design and Development practices e.g. OD Book review, Brown Bag sessions
  • Provide Change Management content leadership expertise to People Team and the business in order to create a consistent, effective and sustainable way to drive large scale change in the enterprise
  • Partner to build a process of measuring the impact of organization design and development interventions via business success case stories and NPS
  • Stay current with emerging practices in the professional field of Organization Development through participating in networks and forums, sharing best practices with peers You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: -
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred. 10+ years of Organization Development/People experience
    • Experience in Global organization development
    • Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the execution of strategies and plans that meet goals within budget and established timelines
    • Advanced level of proficiency in Organization Design, Development, Coaching and Change Management
    • Solid diagnostic skills; ability to distill complex data/information into actionable plans
    • Working knowledge in multiple People Team specialties such as benefits, compensation, Technology, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Employee Relations and Compliance
    • Knowledge of UnitedHealth Group's business, leaders and business objectives Preferred Qualifications:
      • Leadership presence; ability to effectively communicate and influence at most levels of the organization
      • Advanced facilitation and collaboration skills with the ability to bring opposing perspectives together with positive results
      • Clear sense of self. Awareness of the impact on individuals and the organization. Casts a positive leadership shadow. Ability to facilitate the development of self-awareness in others
      • History of building solid relationships and credibility with the business required; must be able to represent the function with internal and external peers, as well as business leaders
      • Proven ability to work under pressure and balance multiple stakeholder/projects
      • Solid interpersonal and relationship building skills. Cultivates and maintains highly effective working relationships and has a comprehensive and well-developed network

The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $113,500 to $218,100.
