Make yourself at home with us and start doing your life's best work.(sm)The Manager of Provider Relations Service & Advocacy serves as an operational leader by managing and overseeing staff engagement with strategic provider relationship to support the Advocate Service Model. This position is responsible for the daily oversight of service model failures within the market impacting provider satisfaction, collaborates with internal and external business partners to ensure staff performance on multiple market-aligned operations functions and communicating with market leadership on staff's provider engagement and performance. The scope of this role will expand as additional operations functions are aligned to market teams.This role will develop and execute the Chart Retrieval/Chase engagement strategy with key Provider Accounts; identifying and collaborating with key stakeholders of our largest Providers. Leaning on industry knowledge, built relationships and marketing savvy, the role will educate key Provider accounts on the benefits of the Retrieval program to gain alignment and participation. In this work, the role with partner with the UHN Contracting team and OptumHealth to execute the enterprise's strategy; focusing on the risk adjustment and audit components of the Chart Retrieval/Chase work.This is a field-based role with on-site visits and meetings with physician groups or hospital systems.If you are located in Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota or Nebraska, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads staff to ensure they are adequately trained on claims platforms to ensure adequate root cause claims analysis
  • Engages with Advocates on issue resolution to ensure issues are handled timely with a positive outcome
  • Supports Advocates with resources to escalate provider issues that require business partners engagement for resolution
  • Oversees and manages staff educational needs affecting staff and providers
  • Engages and monitors staff's engagement with the markets providers on operational visits, JOC, PIE's, Town Halls, Industry Meetings, and all other provider events to ensure providers are trained on UHG policies and processes to ensure practice administrative efficiency
  • Coordinates large events (Provider Information Expo's) with market team to ensure events delivers maximum value and collaboration with providers
  • Work effectively across the UHG Enterprise including collaborating with key business area (Maybe list key areas, UHN, Optum, Clinical, EDI technology) to resolved provider issues and improve outcomes proactively for providers
  • Serves as a primary contact and resolution lead for UHG executive provider escalations in their assigned market(s). Interact with key leaders from large health systems and provider organizations

    • 5+ years of provider relations or network management experience
    • 3+ years of management experience
    • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Excel

      • Undergraduate or higher degree
      • 3+ years of project management expertise
      • Experience working in a physician's office and/or hospital in the billing department
      • Experience managing remote workers
      • Expert level of knowledge of claims / systems processes, contracting and reimbursement methodologies
      • Familiarity of the market dynamics and health systems / provider groups
      • Exceptional presentation skills
      • Solid analytical, critical reasoning and organizational skills
      • Good organization and planning skills with ability to work independently
      • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines from multi-staff members within the department
      • Sound interpersonal skills with ability to interface effectively both externally and internally with a wide range of people including executives, physicians, office staff and other health plan staff
