Position Summary In an effort to ensure the vision imperative of
"Translating Discovery into Health Equity," the Satcher Health
Leadership Institute's ( SHLI ) Director of Data Analytics and
Integrity ( DDAI ) will support the institute in all activities
related to the conceptualization, design, planning, management,
coordination, implementation, evaluation, communication,
dissemination, and sustainability of SHLI core research and
analytic efforts to innovate and advance comprehensive health
equity-focused research. The DDAI will serve as the core, in-house,
subject matter expert responsible for study design and integrity,
data collection and management, hypothesis testing, statistical
analysis, and management of projects related to the SHLI strategic
vision of political determinants of health, health systems
transformation, and mental/behavioral health. In addition, the DDAI
will be primarily responsible for the oversight of SHLI's health
equity research repository, Tracker website, and analytics staff
(product manager, software engineers, etc.). The DDAI will serve as
a key contact and representative for SHLI's Research and Evaluation
efforts by modeling excellent communication and a team approach as
a liaison between SHLI , other departments, and the institution. In
support of SHLI's efforts in multidisciplinary health equity
research, the DDAI will seek to innovate, formulate, maintain, and
improve collaborative efforts with internal and external, private
and public entities resulting in evidence-based discoveries and
solutions that impact individuals, health systems, and overall
population health, in an everchanging social and political
landscape. Further, the DDAI will provide primary assistance in the
identification and procurement of funding opportunities in
furtherance of SHLI's research agenda. DUTIES &
Problem Identification & Study Conceptualization
---Provide leadership and consultation regarding research study
design and feasibility.
---Analyze scholarly literature to discern appropriate research
agenda to ensure SHLI is addressing innovative and critical areas
of concern to advance health equity and remains in line with the
strategic vision of SHLI .
---Assess complex problems and barriers to improvement and/or
enhancement of programs and activities; recommend and assist in
implementation of problem resolution strategies and actions.
---Develop quantitative and qualitative methodology for data
collection, hypothesis testing, and analysis.
---Review and synthesize information and data into recommendations,
presentations, and key issues.
---Identify operational and logistical needs, develop operational
plans, and provide support for core research. Proposal
---Manage the development and submission of proposals related to
research and grant funding.
---Develop and update regulatory, Institutional Review Board ( IRB
), and consent forms/documents. Data Management & Analysis
---Utilize mathematical and statistical modeling and advanced
analytic approaches to assess disease burden and impact of
---Leverage available statistical and analytic tools to streamline
and automate processes related to disease burden and modeling.
---Integrate surveillance data using statistical analyses to
provide methodological support to using existing and novel data for
estimating the prevalence and incidence of health conditions and
the impact of interventions.
---Manage, maintain, and track the content of data within SHLI's
primary data collection repository and database.
---Maintain program and administrative reference materials, project
files, and relevant background documents.
---Develop and implement methodologies to visualize and summarize
the outputs of modeling activities for internal and external
---Explore the utility of data visualization platforms to make core
data more publicly accessible.
---Develop and modify, as needed, statistical programs for
enhanced/expanded analysis of surveillance data.
---Support the coordination of multiple data and analytic tasks
across teams. Scholarly Output & Dissemination
---Report quantitative and qualitative research findings related to
health policy, health equity, and health among marginalized
populations including, but not limited to data collection and
analyses, writing manuscripts and other products.
---Prepare and submit products for peer-reviewed publication and

(scientific manuscripts, abstracts, reports, fact sheets and info

maintain and improve modeling and forecasting activities.
---Collaborate with other departments and institutions to conduct
health equity related research and build partnerships.
---Work in partnership with organizations to garner support,
exchange information, solicit recommendations, synthesize
information, develop pros/cons for positions, and develop
---Represent the institute with officials for state/local and
international programs, community groups, the organization's
management, and others.
---Plan and implement a comprehensive and integrated issues
management program across the institute in concert with the MSM
goals and priorities. Budget Management

and funding requests. Minimum Qualifications ---Bachelor's Degree
in Public Health or related field from a regionally accredited
---3 - 5 years of relevant experience and competencies in public
health research and analysis.
