We are currently building a pipeline of Agile experts to enhance our agile capabilities and are looking for people who are passionate about Agile ways of working within our teams. We need people who can translate business needs into technology assets and determine "how" they are deployed, while owning the technology strategy and expertise development for a certain area of practice.

As Tech Area Lead of the HR Tribe, you will belong to a tribe whose mission is to unlock potential as the best developer of talented people.

The Tech Area Lead is a senior technology leader with extensive experience thinking strategically around technology development and mentoring people. Strategically, you will have to oversee key decisions, including whether short term benefits with long term technical debt should be pursued over longer development lead time. Additionally, you will be integral in the decision of technical tooling and carry out regular reviews of performance metrics. From a people-management perspective, you will oversee technical personnel, including management of vendors. You will develop a close working relationship with the Tribe Lead to ensure alignment of technical resources and business priorities. You will inform key stakeholders about the state and direction of the tech strategy adopted by Chapter Leads, Product Owners, and other stakeholders. You will mentor the people around you and drive collaboration and knowledge sharing to benefit your area and the broader organization.

Among your responsibilities, you will:

  • Share best practices for how processes are leveraged and how work is done
    • Establishing technological roadmaps and guardrails while regularly reviewing them to inform "how" platforms and processes work and are leveraged within Tribe(s)
    • Helping in managing technological change by staying on top of relevant technical developments and innovations in your domain (both internally and externally), and proactively analysing the impact it will have to drive technological health
    • Sharing relevant insights and developments within area of expertise with all related development teams
    • Ensure adherence to firm-wide technology standards, and adapting them to suit Tribe's needs
      • Working with stakeholders across architecture, security, risk, and other COEs to ensure the Tribe's adherence to relevant technology standards and guidelines
      • Taking a long-term lens on adherence to standards and tools, and utilizing them to help the Tribe succeed
      • Coordinate and manage people, knowledge, and resources within your Tribe
        • Supporting and mentoring an organization of deep technical experts where knowledge is shared freely
        • Extensively coordinating with vendors and various other stakeholders both internally and externally, and monitor dependencies to create a cohesive tech strategy and demonstrate clear direction
        • Maintaining your own technical knowledge through learning and continuous improvement
        • Managing, gathering and providing feedback for, and developing Chapter Leads to further their skillset and career development
        • Ensure progress of defined tech strategy through resourcing, planning, and personnel development
          • Taking a long-term point of view on tech competency resourcing, identifying knowledge or skill gaps that exist within Tribe(s)
          • Working with relevant SMEs and Tribe Lead to ensure the Tribe has the relevant capacity, resources, and talent to deliver new functionality in light of large change initiatives and/or changes in demand
          • Enable the organization's new way of working
            • Modelling behaviours to support the organization's technical transformation to a new way of working empowered by technological enablers
            • Actively creating and maintaining the culture of the Tribe(s) based on the organization and Agile leadership behaviours YOU'RE GOOD AT You will work with your tribe to set the technical strategy to achieve the following outcomes:
              • Ensure a consistent and coherent employee experience from attract/source through to leave
              • Drive investment towards actions that improve the employee value proposition
              • Drive consistent and accurate data across the firm, ensuring we know who our employees are and where they are working, and simple ways for our leaders to make data-driven decisions about our people
              • Enable consistent processes across all of BCG, with freedom for local adaptions as required
              • Manage costs within a framework that provides differentiated service for our employees
              • Maintain flexibility to react to market changes and to the needs of our people You're good at:--
                • Dealing with current technology and staying abreast of "what's coming next" in terms of disruptive technologies
                • Imagining the best ways to transform business needs into lines of code, understanding which are the best digital solutions
                • Leading software engineering teams and troubleshooting technical issues that involve software development, platform, configuration management, engineering tasks and product releases
                • Supporting a heterogeneous environment with a mix of SaaS products (e.g., Workday, Saba Cloud), custom-developed applications, and complex data integrations
                • Taking a long-term view on managing tech competency resourcing and vendors, including considering large change initiatives and/or changes in demand
                • Overseeing technical architecture, tooling, platforms, & systems in coordination with Enterprise Architecture, and ensures compliance with technology standards, tools, and guardrails
                • Focusing on delivering agreed-upon business results and customer value
                • Operating with a transparency mindset, communicating clearly and openly both above and below
                • Keeping abreast of the HR technology domain and relevant industry trends, including complex, global data privacy requirements
                • Bringing a customer-centered approach to your work; inspire and motivate your team
                • Committing to cross-functional collaboration to achieve the best results for the organization
                • Experimenting with emerging technologies and understanding how they will impact what comes next
                • Willing to trust and empower your teams to work autonomously to deliver great value to customers
                • Building networks of influence across Tribes and the larger organization YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
                  • Total 10+ years' relevant experience, including proven experience as a technological leader, ideally having led projects spanning multiple teams or headed an IT division
                  • Substantial experience in IT architecture and development
                  • Negotiation capabilities to resolve trade-offs without need for escalating
                  • Proven analytical skills, business acumen and experience making decisions based on hard and soft data
                  • Financial literacy and an understanding of budget and funding processes
                  • A deep understanding of HR technology and the common hurdles and challenges
                  • Commitment to the organization's new way of working through greater collaboration and breaking down of technological siloes
                  • Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within in rapidly changing environment
                  • Experience in Agile methodology and ways of working
                  • Experience in consulting is a plus YOU'LL WORK WITH
