Summary:The Director of Business Development will be responsible for leading the commercial sales and marketing efforts for one of Pioneer Railcorp's operational regions. This role will be specifically focused on growing and managing new and existing customer portfolios, generating prospects, identifying new opportunities and supporting corporate short and long-term strategic growth objectives. The Director of Business Development position extends and promotes Pioneer Railcorp's services and programs across a region of operations for all market segments.--The effective candidate will be required to collaborate with internal and external customers to design supply chain solutions, encourage modal conversion and craft adaptive solutions which meet industry demands. The successful candidate will manage inquiries into the application of the corporation's services as well as regularly solve for complex transportation challenges involving numerous considerations.About Pioneer Railcorp: Pioneer Railcorp owns and operates 16 short-line railroads and several other railroad related businesses. Pioneer operates over more than 600 miles of track in 12 states and safely and effectively serves 100+ customers transporting a variety of commodities including: Agricultural Commodities, Food Products, Iron and Steel, Plastics, Chemicals, Building and Forest Products. Pioneer Railcorp was founded in 1984, and acquired by BRX Transportation Holdings, LLC ("BRX"), an entity formed by Brookhaven Rail Partners, Related Infrastructure and Stephens Capital in 2019.We are a team dedicated to creating advantage for our customers and developing economic vitality in the communities in which we operate. We own, operate and develop critical supply chain infrastructure for industry; that promotes new economic development, community investment, and primary job creation.--Over three decades we have consistently delivered unique solutions founded on extensive research, analysis, creative out-of-the-box thinking, due diligence, and collaboration.--We have a proven track record of providing safe and reliable service while finding solutions and opportunity where others are not looking.----Essential Functions:Meet aggressive sales growth goals, while managing a reliable pipeline to grow existing and non-traditional customersUtilize consultative selling techniques and providing rail-centric supply chain solutions to complex customer issues that drive mutually beneficial outcomesAct as a trusted advisor to customers by demonstrating a deep understanding of their business drivers and strive to provide excellent customer service and managing customer experience challengesPartner with the executive team and regional operations teams to assure a customer centric approach to developing new opportunities and proactively addressing customer needsManage transactional pricing requests and annual contract negotiation processConduct the annual budgeting and forecast process for sales region and customers business expectationsCollaborate with Class 1 and Regional Railroad partners on service, car supply and interline business opportunitiesParticipate in industry and customer events cultivating relationships and enhancing brand awareness including corporate goals and mission----Knowledge:Knowledge of multimodal supply chain concepts and solutionsRailroad operations and commercial sales and marketing fundamentalsAbility to structure, negotiate and close contracts and transactionsExperience managing sales activities utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systemExperience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)Proficient use of applying technology to the sales and marketing process including leveraging social media (LinkedIn), email, CRM, and other tools for prospecting and managing the sales cycle--Skills:High intensity sales and effective presentation skillsTime management, organizational and communication (verbal and written) skillsStrong analytical skills utilized to derive conclusions regarding financial and customer trends----Strong interpersonal skills with and desire to work in a team environment and independently--Abilities:Ability to analyze data and draw sound financial conclusions regarding business activities and influence organizational decisionsAbility to structure, negotiate and close business contracts and transactionsMust have the ability to build and grow relationships with people of all types and backgroundsMust be able to effectively communicate both written and verballyMust have the ability to balance multiple customer and corporate obligations at once--Business Acumen:Railroad operations and commercial fundamentalsDesire to accept ownership, bring accountability, integrity and entrepreneurial thinking when working with clients, partners and colleagues--In-depth understanding of how a business works, how it makes money and how strategies and decisions impact financial, operational and sales resultsProficient use of applying technology to the sales and marketing process including leveraging social media (LinkedIn), email, CRM and other tools for prospecting and managing the sales cycle--Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree / 4-year Degree5 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Business/Strategic Management, Sales, Account Management, Marketing or Finance--Preferred Qualifications:10 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Business/Strategic Management, Sales, Account Management, Marketing or Finance--Job Requirements:50% - 75% travel required to meet designated accounts within regional territoryWork hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
