The role of the AutoCad Drafter/Store Planner is to develop and/or update store space plans used to purchase, bid, and execute retail Store Projects. A Store Project includes new stores, remodels and expansions, department expansions, refurbishment projects and resets. Candidates must have AutoCad experience. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Produces all construction documents needed to execute a Store Project including but not limited to fixture, signage, seismic, merchandise, and space plans to continuously improve the design and performance of stores. Analyzes field pictures and store surveys to create existing (as-built) floor plans. Evaluates proposed retail environments for operational compliance to include but not limited to stock and merchandise handling, loss prevention, and store operations. Creates and maintains all AutoCAD-based floor plans to ensure maximum use of space and close adherence to continuously evolving store concepts. Optimizes space based on merchandising strategies, store operation requirements, and applicable building codes. Participates in plan review meetings and adjusts floor plans based on business initiatives and trends. Uses Microsoft Excel to review store-specific Stat Sheets to determine appropriate merchandise capacity for each store. Maintains current and accurate project files including drawings and correspondence. Collaborates with construction and other departments during all phases of project from inception to completion. Acts as a primary representative to assist planning and execution teams with resolving store layout questions or issues. Visits stores as required to ascertain all field conditions that will impact the architectural design phase. Conducts field inspections of interior finishes as required to verify compliance to retail specifications. Responsible for keeping current on computer network system and related peripherals. Degree and/or certification in Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design, or related field required. Knowledge, skills and abilities Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Able to manage multiple projects in a timely manner Able to work in a team environment or independently Able to gather and prepare store specific unit data Strong interpersonal and adaptability skills Demonstrated planning and organizational abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills Highly motivated and results-driven Initiative Proficiency in the use of computers for: Strong AutoCAD experience is required Word processing using Microsoft Word Spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel E-mail using Microsoft Outlook Internet Experience AutoCAD experience is required. Experience in a retail setting not required, but is a plus. Working Conditions Store Planner usually works in an office environment but the project may sometimes take the employee to a non-standard workplace. Store Planner works a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to plan projects.
