• Learning from experts in personal finance, LinkedIn best practices, sharpening your presentation skills, and more.Build a Career: Find your place in our GTS department as a Data Engineering Intern! Our data engineering team implements data science solutions to complex business challenges by researching, exploring, and visualizing data sets for model-building processes. This is a brand new internship that will work with data scientists and engineers to leverage machine learning, natural language processing, deep learning and other advanced analytics approaches to support our business partners in Supply Chain, Sales, Digital Marketing, Category and Revenue Management. Build the Future by: Being an intern at Gordon Food Service, North America'slargest family-owned broadline food service distributor and working alongside our GTS department. This team works out of our recently opened tech hub in Atlanta, a part of the larger Gordon Food Service community headquartered near Grand Rapids, Michigan. Essential Functions:
  • Completes assigned tasks related to data pipeline development, data warehousing, and infrastructure automation, utilizing Python, SQL, Terraform, and GCP services.
  • Maintains clear documentation of work completed, including code changes, configurations, and testing results.
  • Learns about and gains hands-on experience with GCP technologies, such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
  • Collaborates with team members to understand project requirements and implement solutions following a microservices architecture.
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement within existing processes and tools and contributes ideas to enhance data engineering practices.
  • Demonstrates alignment with the organization's mission, values, and professional standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.Meeting the following qualifications to be considered for our 2025 internship program:
    • Currently enrolled in a university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Must be authorized to work in the US.
    • Basic proficiency in Python and SQL, with a willingness to enhance those skills.
    • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and a desire to gain expertise in GCP services.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
