Contract
$50/hr - $60/hr
Our client is an industry leader in Telecommunications. They are looking for experienced Network Planning Engineers to add to an existing team. This role designs, analyzes, plans, and modifies network components and architecture in support of Tier one broadband wireline infrastructure. Provides mid to long term planning for network technology which includes analysis, solution recommendations, and implementation strategies to complex business issues. These activities are the basis for capital deployment and allocation. Position will provide Technology Solutions and Planning services to support and maintain the Broadband Network - Position will provide network planning support through managing work orders and work-flow processes as well as traffic migration and optimization efforts. The optimization efforts include detailed reporting and analyses and communications.

  • 5+ years working with IP Routing, Optical and ROADM transport platforms.


  • Expertise in ETHERNET, DWDM, OTN and SONET network and infrastructure


  • Expert-level written/verbal communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.


  • Strong network knowledge, problem solving, conflict resolution, and data management skills.


  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office.


  • Experience with understanding the Transport Telco Network.


  • Experience with budget analysis and reconciliation.


    What You Will Be Doing


    • Network growth and long term planning


    • Central Office decommissioning


    • D2/P2 Network Virtualization (Open Source) Planning and Implementation


    • Network Planning Automation for improved network planning efficiencies.


    • Network planning and extensive analysis of the Layer 3 Broadband Internet network to meet the growth, modernization, and replacement demands.


    • Determine cost effective network modifications to meet demand and corporate initiatives.


    • Forecast budget requirements and project management activities.


    • Communicate with various cross function teams on the technical details of network augments.


    • Identify key issues and collaborate with multiple teams to solve non-routine problems.


    • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot production Dedicated Internet Access and VPN edge routers.


    • Provide Tier 3 support for all network issues related to DIA and VPN platforms.


    • Integrate and implement new technologies, processes and hardware into the edge network.


    • Support and provide input for customer migrations and network redesigns.


    • Perform memory and IOS upgrades on customer-owned Cisco routers.


    • Develops and evaluates network performance criteria and measurement methods.


    • Prepares the analysis of the short term or long-term capacity needs for wireless and wireline infrastructure.


    • Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.


    • Studies and forecasts traffic drivers to determine short and/or long-term capacity needs.


    • Recommends strategic network architecture planning and network evolution policy decisions in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria


    • Evaluates new and emerging technologies for addition and/or application to existing network systems


    • Conducts economic and population growth studies to determine impact on network capacity and development plan projections


    • Creates deliverables such as management reports, business cases, infrastructure deployment guidelines, 3 Year Plans, Plans of Record, Project Approval Letters, and Serving Plans


    • Works with key internal stakeholder and vendors to determine future business and customer needs.
