JOB SUMMARY: The incumbent will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating public health programs in regards to training and educational strategies to stimulate prevention program initiatives. DUTIES: [ 'As a Health Education Specialist, you will: Design and implement innovative health education strategies to enhance efforts to effectively educate the affected populations, their families and health care providers on public health surveillance, prevention, and intervention. Develop all training materials using standard instructional design and state of the art and multimedia techniques. Implement training materials with consideration to adult learning principles and utilizing a variety of instructional media (i.e., brochures, fact sheets, classroom sessions, self-study, computer assisted instruction, distance-based learning). Conduct needs assessments to identify educational priorities and needs among diverse audiences interested in public health education. Provide expertise, leadership, consultation, and technical assistance to grantees and contractors in planning, implementing, and evaluating appropriate materials for health education programs.' ] REQUIREMENTS: US Citizenship is required. Minimum Qualifications: OR A combination of education and experience courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or itional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in designing, implementing, presenting, and evaluating related public health education activities and/or programs.
