Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A professional Sign Language Interpreter is needed to provide exceptional communication support within an educational setting. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, and staff to facilitate effective communication and ensure accessibility for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Key Responsibilities: Interpret spoken communication into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events Support students' academic and social participation by providing clear and accurate interpretation Collaborate with educators and support staff to accommodate learning needs and adapt communication strategies Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions Travel to various school locations as required to support assigned assignments Qualifications and Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpretation experience in educational settings Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication accessibility needs Ability to navigate diverse learning environments and collaborate effectively with educational professionals Flexibility to travel within the school district for assignments Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Location: Bridgeport, CT This opportunity provides a meaningful way to contribute to student success by fostering inclusive communication.
