About the Department
Welcome to the Department of Cultural and Behavioral Sciences at
Georgia State University Perimeter College. We are a diverse
department that offers pathways of study focused on the academic
and applied investigations of how humans interact-behaviorally,
geographically, instructionally, socially and culturally. We offer

Position Description
Perimeter College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty
position in sociology. Field of specialization is open. Perimeter
College is a multi-campus institution in a major metropolitan area,
and the teaching assignment may be on any of the college's five
campuses.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
Required Experience
Required Education
Ph.D. in Sociology from accredited institution. Terminal degree
must be conferred by employment start date.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
In addition to required education and experience, the following
qualifications are preferred:
* Experience teaching online and using a distance learning
platform.
* Experience or demonstrated interest in high-impact educational
practices, scholarship of teaching and learning, building
college-to-career linkages, global learning, and/or other
pedagogical initiatives that enhance student success.
* Experience or demonstrated interest in scholarship in the
discipline and/or discipline and institutional service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Ability to teach a variety of sociology classes at the college
level
* Ability to teach in a variety of modalities
* Ability to evaluate and potentially adopt a variety of
pedagogical practices
* Ability to relate to and foster learning among a diverse student
population
* Ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve discipline,
department, or college goals
* Effective oral and written communication skills * Demonstrated
knowledge of instructional technology
