Job Description:
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking dedicated and
disciplined professionals to join our team as Correctional
Officers. This role is crucial in securing the management and
rehabilitation environment of our federal institutions, ensuring
the safety and security of both inmates and staff, while upholding
the core values of integrity, respect, and correctional excellence.
Correctional Officers are on the frontline of maintaining order
within the facility, providing support for a rehabilitative
environment. Enforce rules and keep order within the facility.
Supervise activities of inmates. Inspect facilities to ensure that
they meet security and safety standards. Escort and transport
inmates as necessary. Report on inmate conduct. Prevent
disturbances and assaults. Ensure safe custody and confidentiality
of all institution files. Manage and participate in the
rehabilitation and counseling of offenders. Strong interpersonal
and communication skills Capability to react quickly and
effectively under pressure Physical fitness and stamina Good
observation skills and attention to detail Ability to work as part
of a team Basic computer literacy Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Completion of a
training program administered by the BOP Optional: Certification in
Corrections (e.g., American Correctional Association)
