How you make a difference:
Under the direction of the Statewide Medical Director, the Regional Medical Director, the Regional SE Medical Director will be responsible for the assigned regional area and incompliance with all applicable medical standards, state and federal rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for success of health care program facilities including performance of clinical staff
Monitor services provided by non-physician providers within the detention facilities to include:
o Quality of medical records
o Pharmaceutical practices
o Implementation and adherence to Policy and Procedures as well as Standardized Procedures
Consult with PA/FNPs and RNs on all conditions falling outside standardized procedure parameters
Perform sick call and physical examinations as scheduled
Review and countersign records of patients seen and treated by RNs (under nursing procedures)
Countersign all verbal and telephone orders
Participate in Quality Management, P&T and Peer Review meetings
Monitor hospitalized patients in collaboration with Case Management to assure timely return to the detention facilities
Attend Quality Assurance and/or MAC and other Administrative meetings
Provide coverage on an as needed basis, approximately 20%
Responsible for the performance evaluations and successful training of direct reports
Perform other duties as assigned.
Oversee utilization management and total cost of care for their region to include: pharmaceutical cost, offsites, ER, observation/inpatient hospitalizations, and complex care

Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
Graduate from accredited medical school
Experience:
Minimum one (1) year of experience
Previous correctional/detention facility experience preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
Unrestricted current medical license with no restrictions - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS certification through AHA
Current (and must maintain) security clearance
