This role should have advanced and deep understanding of managed care with experience with P&T committees, governance bodies, comparative efficacy and safety drug reviews, lines of business, and benefit structures. This role will be required to provide pharmacotherapeutic subject matter expertise in all disease areas and be able to contribute to overall clinical content strategy. We develop solutions that have high impacts across UHC, Optum, and Care Delivery Organizations to ensure projects are aligned with core strategies and goals. This role requires a high level of comfort with verbal presentations to various committees, our external markets, and physician leadership. This role requires advanced communication skills, both written and oral, ability to function in a highly matrixed team environment. This role bridges pharmaceutical clinical expertise with economic analysis and data research and synthesis supporting the business and affordability mission of the quadruple aim. This role also is required to deliver economic models such budget and cost benefit analysis. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities: Independently develop and manage evidenced-based clinical pharmacy initiatives or programs across the clinical consistency lifecycle Research and develop therapeutic cost-effectiveness models from primary literature resources for the National Value and Therapeutics Committee Develop plans to create appealing data visualizations leveraging multiple internal and external data sources (quantitative and qualitative), and drawing insightful conclusions for decisions makers Develop plans to create compelling interactive dashboards for internal and external customers to identify, design, recommend and execute solutions to deliver actionable information Ability to synthesize clinical EBM to support and drive strategic business opportunities Ability to synthesize complex information to present to providers and patients for clinical detailing programs and pipeline monitoring Ability to apply prioritization to multiple projects or lead a singular focused complex, cross-business project Act as a subject matter expert for functionally diverse project teams to achieve desired end-results on complex problems regarding projects Establish lasting internal and external relationships with relevant businesses for strategic alignment to work initiatives Ability to work with external pharmaceutical manufacturers to develop relationships while maintaining focus on the OptumCare mission and values for cost-effective and quality care Bridge the clinical gap with data analytics to team to develop analysis plans with RWE/RWD to support various strategies cost/benefit, business value, and service targets Drives engagement with technology or operations on requirements and approach for desired business outcomes You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Degree with clinical work experience 5 years of relevant work experience (this may include residency or fellowship in one of the following areas): Managed Care, Healthcare, Health Plan, or health management consulting 5 yearsof experience developing/managing/directing large scale projects MS Office applications (including Excel, Access and Visio) and analytical skills necessary to interpret medical and pharmacy utilization data Proficient analytical skills in pharmaceutical and medical data interpretation with ability to develop the data story; including PowerBI Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and interact with senior management including physicians Demonstrated ability to summarize information and succinctly communicate analysis verbally and in writing Demonstrated ability to think critically, ask good questions, anticipate the customer/leadership ask and act proactively by rapidly acquiring and synthesizing knowledge from past projects to engage in new initiatives Proven solid in solving problems and issues in a matrix environment and communicating effectively at all levels of an organization Proven and advanced skills in literature searching, retrieval, critical appraisal, clinical study design, and statistical understanding Proven high degree of initiative to anticipate the data needs of the department and to research available data sources Proven self-starter with ability to drive independent problem solving and develop systemic solutions Proven strategic mindset, a self-starter with ability to drive independent problem solving and develop systemic solutions Proven solid project management, planning, organizational, and process improvement skills Proven good written and oral communications. Ability to summarize information and succinctly communicate analysis verbally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information and interact with senior management Preferred Qualifications: Post-graduate residency or Master's degree in a health economics outcomes research or pharmacoeconomics Experience with Tableau, PowerBI Proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint, advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas), Access and Visio Careers at OptumCare .
