Job Title: Tax ManagerLocation: Carrollton, GAReports To: VP of Corporate Tax Summary:This position is responsible for managing all income tax compliance preparation (income tax provisions, income tax returns and internal tax reporting) to ensure the utmost accuracy and timeliness. Also included is tax accounting preparation, maintenance and accuracy. This position contributes to international, federal and multi-state income tax planning and research for Southwire and affiliated entities. This position provides review and hands-on leadership for the day to day activities of the professional tax staff. Responsibilities:--- Review and/or prepare federal and multi-state income and franchise tax returns in a complete, accurate and timely manner. Includes International forms related to GILTI, CFCs, Disregarded Entities, FTC, 163(j), Transition Tax, etc.--- Manage, review and/or prepare the timely and accurate filing and payment of all income and franchise tax liabilities.--- Review and/or prepare federal and multi-state income tax provisions and internal reporting in an accurate and timely manner.--- Perform tangible property regulations analysis.--- Manage details of all tax accounts and other accounting, including tax expense, accruals, forecasts, variance explanations, account reconciliations, current and deferred income tax provisions for planning and compliance purposes, and the tax basis balance sheet.--- Research tax laws related to tax planning activities, to respond to internal tax issues, and to minimize federal and state income/franchise tax exposure.--- Coordinate with the VP of Corporate Tax for all tax planning and compliance matters.--- Effectively communicate all tax issues and opportunities to the VP of Corporate Tax.--- Provide hands-on leadership to tax staff to ensure complete and accurate preparation, completion and timely filing, of all income tax returns, income tax provisions, and internal reporting responsibilities.--- Mentor, train and guide tax staff.--- Manage state income and franchise tax return audits.--- Manage all federal and state income tax return notices and requests from state taxing authorities.--- Manage and/or work on multiple and varied tax projects.--- Assist with property, sales and use, and other tax issues and reporting when necessary.--- Perform all other duties as assigned. Critical Competencies:--- Advanced technical income tax knowledge, including federal corporate/partnership income taxation, treatment of S-corporations, multi-state income tax law, international tax compliance reporting and consolidated returns. Familiarity with Tax Cut and Reform Act of 2017 is required.--- Advanced knowledge and experience with accounting for income tax provisions.--- Prior experience with calculating and tracking distributions to shareholders.--- Mentoring and training capabilities.--- Personal drive, ownership and enthusiasm.--- Attention to detail.---Ability to: Delegate responsibilities. Manage process flow. Manage multiple projects and deadlines within strict time parameters and shifting priorities. Inspire leadership Develop and effectively manage personnel. Skills:--- Proficient in MS Office.--- Advance knowledge and prior experience with Corptax income tax return preparation and provision software, including international modules.--- Expert with Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.).--- Proficient with Thomson Reuters and BNA tax research web-based platforms.--- Prior experience and working knowledge of SAP.--- Analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills, initiative, teamwork and technical income tax expertise.--- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.--- Ability to work as an individual and in a team-oriented environment with a high level of integrity and professionalism. Education and Experience:--- BA/BS in Accounting required. --- Masters in Accounting or Tax required--- CPA required.--- Must have at least six years of combined experience in the tax group of a national Big 4 public accounting firm, with at least one to two of those years handling tax compliance for a large multinational manufacturing company. --- Must have experience in leading projects and teams.--- Must have at least two years as a manager.
